Because he's too SOFT. FAR TOO CLOSE TO THE PLAYERS AND WANTING TO BE THEIR BEST MATE.

Second time he was here... trip to Germany for training camp.... turned into one big piss up with some fans, players and the then CEO. Unprofessional.

Idle you've turned quicker over McCall, than you did about Bowyer... I'm starting to like you.

The difference is, that I welcomed Bowyer here as I thought he would do a job for us, whereas I didnt want McCall back. He blew his best chance of success with us with the negative way he went around the play off final with Millwall, he changed tactics to counter Millwall's threat instead of sticking to his all out attacking mantra he had been utilising prior to that game.

He has come back and is doing the same, tinkering and changing formations to counter the footballing giants of Newport and Harrogate etc.

Even yesterday he changed the line up despite waxing lyrical about the second half performance on Tuesday. Hardly an encouragement to the players where one minute you're heaping praise on them the next you're dropping them for 'tactical reasons'.

Dropping Watt to the bench for tactical reasons was bizarre. Yes, I know he was at fault for Bolton's goal but he is the only midfield player this season that has demonstrated he is good enough to play for us. McCall said he was dropped because of the weather conditions and didnt think the conditions would suit him. On hearing that, I realised that McCall really has lost the plot.

I can't believe in training Stuart just tells them to hoof it. Looks to me like there's a very serious confidence issue among the squad we can barely string together a passage of play against bog standard league 2 team like Barrow. You can literally see the frustration I. Watt and Hossanahs body language. I've no rose tinted glasses we wouldn't have done that under Parky either but he was pragmatic enough to recognise that if we couldn't do that we had to be too defensively strong that we wouldn't get beaten we aren't that at the momentwhich does sit with Stuart.
The physical stature of FCD eh very strange the kid looked like he was frightened to death everytime he had to challenge for the ball. The mind boggles a little at the explanation when itsvwindy you need to keep it on the deck surely and Watt is capable of that. Seriously I'd have subbed FCD off after 20 mins I thought he was that bad.

Bit of factual relief for you Stafford on a dismal 'morning after'. I had a long chat to a Barrow Committee man of very long standing yesterday, not much else to do!!
Your theories regarding a North/South divide or remoteness are logical but incorrect. In the year concerned Barrow had received constant complaints from visiting clubs about the unsafe nature of the ground after the owners had done a deal for Speedway. The Speedway people were paying a low rent but Barrow needed the money badly so agreed subject to alterations being done at the cost of the Speedway people which were classed as 'minor'.
The works were carried out over a weekend and Monday revealed the corners of the pitch dug up to create bends and terracing down one side broken up and huge blocks of concrete just left right next to the pitch. No action was taken to improve and after a very short time the rent stopped being paid and the offenders disappeared. Then the complaints started and the vote against re-election went against on safety grounds alone, apparently.

I didn't mind him bringing in an extra body in midfield, especially somoen in a central defensive role to help Cooke get further forward. But why bring in a hardly played Sutton and a novice FCD together in two crucial roles? Sutton spent the game chasing the ball like a dog chansing a stick and for FCD it was a tough baptism of fire in terrible conditions. And exactly how does this encourage Watt whos now been dragged down to the level of everyone else? And why drop Clarke and BRE? Theyt weren't brilliant on Tuesday but i thought the idea was for the team to have chance to gel?
I admit this is as bad as anything i've seen in nearly 40 years of following this club, there's no strategy to anything we do on or off the field. And amazingly some still bury their head in the sand and think the fairy godmother will wave her magic wand and make everything alright.
Only a new owner and CEO can make fix the wounds at this club, hopefully the aforementioned Jenkins will be coming in, not to turn the ship around, but to actually refloat the Titanic.

Rhodes told a friend of mine a few weeks ago that the Jenkins rumour was in his words 'bollocks'. Not sure whether that was a smokescreen, but I suspect it really is bollocks

It had better not be bollocks, its the only thing that can save this club.

I cannot think of any reason why Jenkins would take on the CEO role of a struggling league 2 club miles away from home. If he was interested in buying the club, then that's another story, but CEO, just cannot see it. It will be someone local or with links already to the club, in my opinion

Exactly why would Jenkins want to work under MrRupp it doesn't make sense unless he has an option to buy but won't at Mr Rupps price
Mr Sparks or maybe Mr Mason would be my guess and fit with the safe option way of thinking Mr Rhodes. Is renowned for
It's going to be a long old season Covid is our only hope if the likes of Mansfield Scunthorpe and Southend start picking up points

To be fair he's not been afraid of quitting in his managerial career.

Its probably more likely than Captain Admin sacking him anyway.

Unfortunately it seems that McCall is deluding himself that we're close to turning it around from his interviews.

Captain admin won’t do it, that’s admitting he has failed again and his ego won’t handle it. Stu will walk soon if results don’t turn, he sounds stressed and like a rabbit caught in the headlights. Evans and Novak might just save him. If he has any sense he will appoint a new skipper too.

Interesting, there's little doubt it was a factor in Barrow's demise, especially as one more vote would have secured their Football League place.

I've found this article about the speedway's impact on Barrow: 1970s speedway track continues to cause problems for Barrow AFC. It seems the impact of speedway's brief tenure at Barrow had had a long lasting impact.
