I don't think it was deliberate either, this phrase 'downing tools' seems to get mentioned regularly yet to me that wasn't the case bar the second half at Rotherham. As you have said the team looked shot to bits and devoid of any confidence, this boils down to your management team and your leaders on the pitch and this is where the likes of McCall and Vincelot do have to shoulder some of the responsibility in getting the team up for it on and off the pitch. That said, things have happened which we are not privy to that has destabilised the whole set up. Plymouth have shown how easy form can turn, they have done the opposite of us in terms of form yet i guess no one was sayng they had downed tools earlier in the season. Fact is we hit a bad spell, a really bad spell because of various factors, injuries, a small squad not being able to back up, poor and late recruitment in January.

 

I think we know who the disruptive players are. Parky always kept ahappy dressing room,once that goes your on a downward spiral. It only needs a couple of bad apples who can influence the young lads,and it soon becomes chaos.

 

Totally agree. One criticism I do level at McCall is that he seemed unable to protect/ shield the players from what was happening. In my view that is your job when you are in a managerial position. Likewise captain as well.

 

Funny how Grayson has given the captains armband to McMahon rather than Vincelot. McMahon has been a much maligned figure since the beginning of January but maybe a lot of that wasn't really his doing.

 

Yes which is why I didn’t want to speculate. The lack of quality in our squad will have affected the players, so they too would be looking for quality signings in Summer/January. Given it is suggested that half their pay is bonus related, they will want a strong team so they all benefit financially, if we get promoted, that too could have added to the general hissy fit that happened over Hendrie, not that he was particularly quality but he was versatile which given our injury list the players would have welcomed.

Grayson is cute/savvy he will know who was doing what and what impact it had on the team. I love Vincelot as a player he gives his all for the team, but I have never seen him as a captain. However, I can’t see him disrupting the team and not focusing on the overall goal. Grayson maybe doing what many a class teacher has done with naughty boys, give him responsibility for getting the team going and also if he is not staying showcase his skills as both captain and footballer to the wider world.
