I see Adams comments a bit differently. To me he's saying that there are places for Exeter still open for those that aren't selected from the start and whoever he does pick to start on Saturday shouldn't rest on their laurels as it doesn't mean they're an automatic pick for the first game.

Standard management practice in keeping everyone motivated for me.

 

I'm not even sure what there is to bicker about. Pre season has generally been very good, we seem to have built a competitive squad with a chance of still bringing in 1 or 2 more in. Can't remember the last time we went into a season so well prepared. Too much moaning for my liking.

 

Try listening to Accrington Manager … he takes a defeat today very very seriously.

 

The season can't start soon enough, these threads have become rather tedious. Shame because Adams has us set up well.

I don't get the downer some seem to have on Sutton. I get the impression he is Adams' sort of player and will feature heavily. How did he do today?

 

I would think the team on Saturday will be very much the team that plays at Exeter,with the exception of Songo’o who probably won’t make Saturday but hopefully fit for Exeter. Unless of course he follows the familiar pattern of our injured players from last season. He’s got a slight knock. He’s going for a scan. He’s going to see our specialist. He’s out for 6 to 8 weeks. We don’t see him again until next year.

 

in my 45 + years watching city, this has to be the best prepared we have been at the start of the season.
Squad just about done, maybe the odd tweak in and out.
Pre-season results very good and playing reasonable football and a manager that appears to know what he is doing.
Roll on next week.

@Fordy117 - I half agree with you, he would have learned a lot from the Chesterfield game but also today against a much higher standard of opponent. But what does it matter? Pre-season is only about fitness Admit it, you’re impressed with it.

 

Treat this as our first league game, you don’t learn real lessons about a team until they’re in a competitive environment.

 

I think he knows the shortcomings of his fringe players already. Doesnt strike me as a man who needs two bites to learn which bit of the apple is poison

For anyone wondering by the way, Sam Hornby has the captain's armband on. Richard O'Donnell has always been skipper when he's been on the pitch, so could simply be Adams' way of being diplomatic over the No.1 debate.
