There's a couple of interesting interviews with him on the Brentford website and also The Sun. He comes across very well, talking about challenging himself and how he wants to develop. He certainly sounds as though he has a good attitude.

Interestingly, he talks about being in a bubble playing at Arsenal where all teams play out from the back and wanting to experience more direct football.

I don't think Oyegoke needs to come back down to earth, I've seen nothing from him to suggest that kind of attitude.

What he does need is to not be played out of position.

How many others can you say that about though ????? Is it so difficult to actually get a grip of playing players in there natural positions or playing a system that the whole team are happy with .............. I honestly believe that there is a team in there to challenge the same as last season but the reason we won't is down to one man and his scatter brain decisions.............it ain't the PL where you have to adapt your system for better teams ............it's bog standard league 2 where you shouldn't be scared of anyone .......... Crawley are a poor team and even with 10 men a half decent side would have caused them issues we did neither ...........honestly I seriously cannot stand months and months of this shit only for him to start using a system that works ..........he had the whole of last season and part of the season before to get it right and after 18 months we still look fooking clueless

No, you were trying to use other teams results to try to make yourself feel better.

Concentrate on us! We lost and were dreadful! That all is what counts not what other teams have done.

Amazing what folk will try to do to take your eye of the bleeding obvious still within the next couple of months it will be

    Needs to gel
The team of 1998 got of to a bad start
He's trying to suss out our best system after that we will be fine

It wasn't just about yesterday it was all about the previous 12 months ...........players out of position,a system that the players just look uncomfortable with and Cook on his own up front yet again ............. we made a poor Crawley team look ok and how many times did we do that with other poor teams last season .............. yesterday should have been a marker even with 10 men we should have had enough to cause them problems we did neither ...............I was underwhelmed going into the season and sadly after that yesterday nothing has changed

!00% Smallwood back pass was a shocking ball but how many times in the past have we seen a similar situation.
Having said that Taylor should have done better the ball it should have been in row Z but Hughes mentality driving the players is to try and keep possession.

Hopefully Stubbs will be back soon who will be a big help. I also think McDonald will help stabilise us as well.

    Blaming injuries now.

Stubbs would help us but he’s not that great. McDonald hasn’t had a pre season and can’t be counted on yet. So forget him for now.

Dreadful manager, dreadful tactics with a negative attitude, negative formation. Midfield players with a first instinct to return the ball back to where it's just come from instead of turning and going forward. One up front, dreadful and soul destroying.

I actually thought he would have learned from last season but looks like the same mind numbing tactics are still gonna go on ............if he actually starts with Cook on his own up top next Saturday then I simply give up.

Amazing after one game he's splitting the fan base already :( had we set up right with players playing in there own positions and created chances then I think the majority would have brushed it off............ sadly this is gonna continue to happen throughout the season............why oh why he tries to over complicate stuff is just mind numbing .........You can understand it at the elite level but we are talking Crawley here a team that will struggle to stay up .............Let's be happy that we didn't face a half decent side because a huge hiding would have come our way

I didn't watch the match or listen to commentary so would someone mind explaining what the positions/formations were? I've seen the line up and understand we went 3 at the back but who actually played where? Cant figure it out on the line up alone. Looks like some weird 6-3-1 with 4 fullbacks on the pitch.

Sat last night thinking about our club and what we've been through in the last 8 years or so, the old grey matter isn't as good as it used to be, I can't see us under this regime giving any opposition a good hiding we don't look capable of dominating the opposition.
I don't want Hughes out but once again yesterday's performance was hardly a game that had us sat on the edge of our seats.
I've said it before it was a chore at times to attend games at Valley Parade I hope that is not the same this season, we've seen some crap over the years when we've had no brass for the manager to bring a bit of quality in but this is a different situation Hughes has been backed.
At one time a midweek game at Accrington would have been a no brainer but I have no appetite at the moment, early days I know I had so much faith in Hughes doing a good job but seeing us last season being ultra cautious and not allowing players off the leash we need to be more positive this season.
Yesterday couldn't be used as a guide I did think even though we were a goal down we were very much in the game until the sending off I can't envisage this squad tonking any opposition in the near future.

The ref was as usual diabolical and city played like it was their first ever game of football. No street sense if you will.

Taylor was so bad it reminded me of the first game of 2018-19 that ominous wtf moment. We went from that to that? In the space of a few months

Smallwood is a big child who simply needs bringing down a peg or two. You can't lead a team when petulance is your middle name. And bang average are your skills.

Think Kelly is going under the radar a bit. Looks average.

Oyegoke was hard done by. Took a dose of shit reffing with a dose of incompetence from two senior players who clearly are the chinks in our armour.

Once those two clowns were off the pitch it looked like we had a team who could actually threaten and looked exciting.

I want to see Smallwood on the bench next match. Get him off.

The team selection and formation certainly didn't do us any favours yesterday, but had the free kick not been given (which I don't think it should have been), we might have seen a different outcome. I'm not saying we'd have won, but I don't think we would have lost.

Well, yesterday was a long day out, what with train cancellations on the way down, forcing a change of route, plus the fact it was raining inside the train (coming through the roof). At least the return journey went according to plan.

As, for the match, I thought we carried a serious threat going forwards, until the red card, after which we seemed to raise the (off) white flag and, thereafter, a second Crawley goal was always more likely than a City equaliser.

My City man of the match, for what it's worth, was Jamie Walker.

A lot of work to do after that performance.

We feel very much the same. Despondent and wondering when if ever we are going to make progress. I am suffering from sciatica, so not sure I will make it next Saturday. Normally I would have been distraught not to attend a home match but not bothered.

Oyegoke (sic), Kelly, Taylor three CBs. Ridehalgh and Halliday wings backs.

he put Oggy at CB to compensate for the two other slugs but it didn’t work. platt and stubbs in a flat back four looked far more comfortable last season..
