@Dennis is correct, I fear Hughes understands what it takes at this level.

Halliday and Ridehalgh are no full backs but in a system like today when your players are not that gifted you need your DM (Smallwood) to sit and certainly not think he’s a PL all star.

You need your wide players to track back and not play like PSG front line in a CL game that all feel they are too good to track back in games.

It was a mess today! All over the shop! We deserved to lose and we have plenty of work to do and need to urgently hit that transfer market.

And yes, Taylor is dog dirt. Everyone called it at the time of the signing. It was obvious. Whoever sanctioned his signing needs firing. Immediately.

Completely agree. Why give up 50 yards of territory immediately? It just doesn't make any sense.

 

He probably shouldn't be giving that ball but if a professional footballer can't deal with a ball rolled to him like that then he probably needs to pack it in.

Smallwood can take criticism for being negative and not taking responsibility but Taylor has to absolutely own that error, it was, in keeping with his whole game, horrendous.

 

There is no doubt the ref played a poor part in the game , but I haven’t seen anyone saying we lost because of him? His decision making for both sides was bizarre, no escaping the fact.
