A fan zone would be ace. Instead of spending an hour in the pub before games, I'd spend it in the fan zone having a beer, watching clips of City highlights and hopefully with something to help keep the kids entertained. Money for the club, a better experience for me, and it'd be great to get the atmosphere going too.
Perhaps there's something we could do to make better use of the concourse space available?

Fanzones are something sports in US have been doing for sometime.
Some PL clubs have started to embrace it and as has been noted other sports including rugby.
F1 Grand Prix is really the benchmark. They turn each race into a three day event akin to a festival.
I'm not advocating anything to grand but there's lots the club could do on a budget.

Maximising supporter revenue is another area where we've been behind the curve for a long time, but I think Sparks will address it, and quickly. Interesting to hear him refer to investing in a CRM (customer relationship management) tool in the summer. I implemented one for the company I work for 2 years ago and they're pivotal to optimizing how you engage with and serve your customers. They help to unlock all sorts of opportunity.

For example, I'm fortunate to earn an above average salary, and I have an appetite to invest in quality products that represent value for money. But I put very little into City's coffers because frankly, they haven't done enough to 'sell' to me, or offer value. A CRM would help us to make the most of finding opportunities to sell to supporters like me. It allows you to use things like post code data to estimate the level of wealth/disposable income someone has and offer targeted marketing services. We should be capturing all sorts of information about supporters when STs are purchased. I've only ever once paid for an upgrade to a suite, a few years ago, and it wasn't a great experience. It wasn't worth it. Make it a better experience, make me aware of what's been done to improve the experience, make it personalized and I'd spend more money. The same when it comes to ST prices - it doesn't have to be one size fits all; there are areas of the ground that have better views and are in higher demand. Why not make those prices higher and target those that are more likely to pay higher prices? Supply and demand, just like every other business. I've been to a couple of corporate gigs at premiership clubs and I still get promo material all the time, happy birthday emails, that sort of thing. I get nothing from City.

@Rogered Tart@Rogered Tart hinted at it in this thread but the bulls match day events were second to none, I was still a kid at the time but match days had me completely hooked. If City can replicate a tiny bit of that atmosphere it's a win.

One slightly concerning thing about last night's play off match between Oxford United and Blackpool was the (lack of) demand for tickets.

Capacity was set at 4,000 and everyone who applied for a ticket got one, suggesting a worrying level of demand for such an important match.
    https://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/sport/football/blackpool-fc/another-play-off-game-another-win-matt-scraftons-verdict-as-blackpool-place-one-foot-in-the-final-with-comprehensive-first-leg-win-at-oxford-3241865
I think a lot of clubs, including City, will be waiting anxiously to see what the levels of demand are for tickets, compared to the pre-COVID times.

I think realistically, in order to ensure everyone is as safe as they can be from Coronavirus variants, it's best to keep stadiums shut and everyone can continue to watch from home in a Covid-secure environment.

The club can and will still earn a considerably amount of money from i-Follow.

They will not keep stadia empty again, i'm guessing a reduced capacity to begin with then a gradual increase as the season goes on.

Until someone tells me that the ‘Indian variant’ can cause serious illness in under 30’s or fully vaccinated people then I refuse to take it seriously.
‘In the interests of fairness’ doesn’t matter.

They will have been vaccinated by the start of the season. Case numbers up, deaths down. The Indian variant "scare" is just that.

    Because the
Because the facts, rather than the Internet rhetoric, suggest that it is no more deadly in terms of deaths than the predominant Kent strain, and the facts also suggest that the vaccine is equally effective on it. Yes its spreading, but its only causing hospitalizations in the unvaccinated. Therefore it is no more dangerous than any other strain. Unlike you, I'm not buying the left wing media panic

It has to happen, we can't afford for it not to do. I aint paying for a season ticket if there is no guarantee of live football. I've done it once this season for me and my lad but not again.

I hope it happens mate and I too won't pay for Ifollow again but I am not banking on it happening.

The government are covering their backs. Not promising theses things will happen and saying four things need to happen before certain things can open up.

If I am Ryan Sparks I am taking it with a pinch of salt knowing how much the club spent to become covid secure in the first place and then I would be putting season ticket sells in June if everything is fine.

    They're counting on four things.

No longer is it getting the infection rate down. It's that and three other things.

I've no confidence at all at this moment because its been u turn after u turn and things pulled away all the time. Lockdown after lockdown.

Brave person if you are confident these things will happen near the government timeframe.

Problem is Park for the football clubs to be able to plan financially we can't keep having conditional dates. By the start of the upcoming season there should be enough vaccinated and the figure should be low enough to allow some form of normality. Yes, there has to be vigilant processes in place such as the usual handwashing faciities but we cannot allow businesses to restart again only for them to shut down again as some nutty professor starts hogging the limelight.
