Some good players from that season with Rollie Dolan in charge
One of the biggest disappointments and scariest time in my time watching City was being beaten at Middlesborough in the play offs
Mickey Kennedy (rip) oh how I wish we had someone of his caliber now

Mick Kennedy was a rock. Hard as nails but a good footy player too. Boro, yes I was there as a 14 year old. Bernie fecking Slaven.
Missed only 2 games in the league that season, Plymouth and Bournemouth away. Remember it being scary but not as much as at Maine Road that year...

Good effort only missing the two furthest away trips !!!
Was in the "home" end for the Man City away match so apart from a bit of trouble in the pubs before and after was fine

Me and a few of my mates couldn't get tickets so watched on Sky then went into Bradford afterwards for the party. Steaming by the end of the night. Decided to try and put my BCFC Union Jack up on the lounge curtain pole for the benefit of the neighbours. Seemed like a good idea at the time......woke up later to find said Union Jack and curtain pole on top of me on the floor in the lounge!! I was popular with the missus...….

Watched it in the Upper George in Wibsey. Afterwards we did a conga around the roundabout in the middle of the village. Will we ever see such days again?

That period of football was brilliant, just the ending was gutting when we didn't go up and Stuart and John Hendrie left.

Competing with the likes of Chelsea, West Ham, Man City and Aston Villa around that time was incredible.

    Good times.

I was sat in the front row that day and when he hit the post I just totally relaxed because I felt that was their last chance and it was !

I don't believe you 'totally relaxed' when Simpson hit the post. Your kidding ain't you..

Crikey my memory of that day in the closing minutes was anxiety and stress.

I was sat in the away end, couldn't get tickets for bradford end. It was purgatory, having to restrain myself from leaping up and down, but at the final whistle it was marvellous. Great Day, one for the memory book!

Unbelievable day from start to finish. The build up; journey, at the ground l, the match itself. All the twists and turns, the goals, the elation, the realisation !, the songs, the champagne in the car park and on the way home !. The convoy of joyous City fans; the excitment; arrving home "treated as heros" by family as we pulled up in the drive. Then immediately off down to VP to celebrate with the team and assembling multitides.

Makes me want to cry. You'll be waiting a long time before you experience anything like that at that level. Wembley 2013 pushes it and Chelsea. A measure I suppose of the rollercoaster ride I have been on with Bradford City since I first climbed on board in 1974.

Theres always hope I suppose; but sadly from where we are now its going to be a long time before any City fan sees times like those given times like these ?.

Hope is the reason any club outside the top 4 have fans at all, we all like to think next season will be ours. I’ve never understood the mind set of some who just think we’ll be crap every year, I always go into a season thinking we’ll do well even if it’s quickly crushed out of me. But without that mindset I’d get no enjoyment out of the game and wouldn’t see a point turning up.
