Must be a relation of yours. Fair enough. Anyone without bias would agree that the lad is a shocking footballer and we should have never signed him

You don't play that many games in your career by being a shocking footballer, by the time we signed him his legs had gone, certainly when it came to playing wing back.

I suppose it's not a transfer but would be big L2 news, lots of noise that Carlisle are in talks with Williamson and he is wanting the move too. There were rumours at the weekend that MK were on the verge of sacking Williamson, but Carlisle have reportedly contacted MK and agreed his £200k pay out fee. Sounds very "2024 Carlisle" to be honest....

Yet more proof that clubs are inpatient.

If Williamson was given this full season I believe that MK would be at least in the playoffs if not higher. I'm sure I read they signed 10 new players and got rid of a similar amount. Even with a full pre season that's a big change!

Hope it happens. It's very rare a team that swops managers part way through a season gets promoted (ten years since it happened in league 2). We just need the likes of Notts County, Gills, Doncaster etc to do the same.

It's not a move I'd have thought they'd make given their recruitment. Williamson likes a back 5 which fits but he plays two 10s off a mobile forward.... doesn't look like Carlisle have any real attacking midfielders and we all saw that Wyke is the furtherest thing from a mobile forward. But he'll have to play him with the money he is on. Wyke isn't the type of striker that comes to mind for a possession based side either.

Further to this, the MK assistant did the media duties today, which might mean nothing..... but the MK head of recruitment is leaving to become the Carlisle sporting director/dof.... now the Williamson move makes sense.

Their xG compared goals actually scored is way off. But then I'm no expert but even I could tell you that not having a decent number 9 like we have means you can have the best xG in the league, makes no difference if you ain't putting the ball in the net.

The possession stat alone is the most useless stat in football. If you break it down into areas and analyse where you've had that possession then fine, it could demonstrate dominance and to a certain degree, perhaps that you were either wasteful or just unlucky. But if 90% of your possession is between the back 6 and you rarely venture into the attacking third then it's clearly misleading.

I think it was Dyche over the summer, again having to defend his way in the media. But he brought up a point that in the PL the season before last, the average passes from start of play to goal was just over 6 passes on average (for open play goals obviously). No matter how many times you watch City and Arsenal pass the ball to death before shooting, in actual fact most goals come from a few balls around the pitch before getting a shot away.

So the real question now is....... scrap signing a free agent defender, sign some wingers!! 442 all the way, get it up there!

I remember Callum Cooke having brilliant "chances created" stats purely because he was never brave enough to shoot and would still try a pass when 1v1. Him and Jake Reeves would slot into Mk's team seamlessly.
I can imagine watching Williamsons football is very frustrating, elite teams doing it can be mind numbing never mind this level.
Give me GAs directness instead, 4 4 effing 2

One of my favourite pointless stats was the first L2 season back down here. Connor Wood had the most crosses in the EFL by Christmas time or something like that and everyone thought it was amazing..... but his cross completion was insanely low, from memory his completion was the lowest in the list of 10/15 names on the list and had notched just 1 assist from crossing by that point. Peppered crosses in but no bugger ever got on the end of them.

I agree Joe but I think there's room for both, and in the same team. I'd like to see us keep possession more, ike we did against Walsall (second half) and Mansfield but there's absolutely nothing wrong with with a longer ball when the space and opportunity is there.

At the end of the day, the ball being in and around the box and shots coming in is what gets the City fans excited, not a high possession stat with very few clear chances created ala Mark Hughes teams.

Agreed. One of the most important things for me, particularly at Bradford is that a manager can adapt and change their style. A plan A B C and D. We're all fed up of stubborn managers, I've liked what I've seen from Alexander in that respect. I think he's honest and that he would throw the gameplan out of the window if it wasn't working much unlike Hughes. He's got a few tough calls to make Saturday

Why they got rid of Dean is a mystery and will remain so to replace him with the immobile Hendrie from Salford .

Money, that's about the top and bottom of it. They were having a big re-shape in the summer over the new ownership thing that dragged on, so dunno if that effected budgets or recruitment. But getting a believed £1.7m for him with a 30% sell on in case he comes good isn't to be sniffed at for this level to be honest.

Hendrie is a head scratcher of a replacement though. They've ended up signing a lot of forwards who are all pretty different, if you play 1 up top it just seems to show that they don't really know what they want up there. Oh well, seems like the head of recruitment is off to Carlisle.

Which doesn’t say a lot for Carlisle either. I know I have banter with @JonButterfield@JonButterfield but MKD are turning into a right basket case . And yes Winkleman getting rid of the club says to me he’s been using paper ( Other revenue streams) to paint over the financial cracks .
