If you don't want to pay an upgrade for use of a lounge or a suite nobody is forcing you to do so. Equally, it is not compulsory to join the 1903 club or buy one or all of the kits that are brought out. As long as access to the actual game remains affordable for all that want to witness it, I don't see what the problem is with the club trying to increase revenue in other areas if there is a market for it.

Sparks and the commercial department have sales targets to meet just like every football club. It is a business after all. And it's not like there's a gun at your head making you sign up to these options. About time this club started to act like a business than a charity.

You fly BA to the states, you can pay extra for premium economy, business and first. I don’t see that alienating customers who can’t afford first class. Overnight at the play off final, Ritz, Premier Inn or Shangri La doss house in Stoke Newington. Morrisons, smart price, normal or taste the difference baked beans.

It’s life, some folk can afford more than others, make the basic product affordable and then fleece those with more money for a premium product. It’s not the 300 plebs in economy who BA the most profit, it’s the 60 people in the comfortable seats.

We want City to have the best chance of success and have as many people see it as possible. I’d say this is exactly the sort of thing the club should do. I’d have gone further and made seats in the shitty areas, Bradford End, bottom of NW corner, bits where you get rained on really cheap and then the better seats more expensive with average ones in the middle.

I don’t know what you expect but the club is a business that needs to bring money in. There’s a few things I’d criticise Sparks for but this isn’t one of them.

I know its an alien concept to some of our fans but without the fans of this club paying more into the pot then the club goes nowhere. Christ I've even read comments from some that we should have dropped the price because of Covid. Thankfully Sparks took notice of the ones that actually understand business with the things he has implemented recently. £198 season tickets, the 1903 membership, the' fourth' kit, the extra cost to get in the 2013 suite, all this effort is to try and raise more income for Bradford City nothing else.

And if people can’t afford it - don’t buy! It’s pretty simple. Tiered pricing for additional products and services. Slowly but surely we’re dragging ourselves into the 21st century.

For those fans with deep pockets, this is exactly right. I agree, allow wealthier fans to spend as much as they want, effectively. Suite upgrades, names on shirts, you name it, add others in who want to purchase these things as gifts for others, it's all fair game.

£198 is still an extremely reasonable price for a season ticket and well within the 'cheap' tickets we've been offering since the initiative began. We actually went BACK to £150, if memory serves correctly, so fair enough.

But what I don't want to see any time soon are season tickets in the £300 bracket. That rules out working class families and slams the door shut on many prospective fans whose parents can't afford the outlay. We can see that from any number of clubs who can't get anywhere close to filling their stadiums, which in some cases aren't very big to begin with.

The idea is right although as you allude to it might need a bit of tweaking to get the the required uptake. Even at Bradford City people will pay extra for that bit of exclusiveness that others can't or won't pay for. Remember the Chelsea reunion, I know the lad who organised it, £50 quid a pop and sold out. There were comments elsewhere that it should have been a pie and peas cheap night for the fans but as usual these people were totally missing the point. If this club has any hope of moving forward as a business ideas like the ones Sparks has implemented are an integral part of the strategy. Turnover should be built on every season.

To be honest I agree with you, £250 to have a pint of overpriced carling six feet from Gareth Evans doesn’t fill me with excitement. But some people will pay for it, you only need 100 to do it and it’s £25k of income, pays one of the first team pro’s salary.

I have to agree. We have all been unhappy with what has been served up on the pitch and also a lot have us have been unhappy with the amateurish way the club has been run in general. If fans don't want to or can't afford the "extras" don't buy them. The rise in season ticket prices (which most of us felt was overdue) and the extra stuff on offer, along with minor ground and refreshments improvements are all part of Sparks trying to move the club forward, on and off the pitch.
I can't even say that I am fed up with settling for mediocrity, things haven't been that good! If you can't afford or don't want any of the extras just buy the season ticket, you can pay monthly. Let's move forward.

Spot on. It’s about time we started trying to compete and professionalise all aspects of the club, which means monetising some of the additional services available to supporters.

Looks like we'll have to slum it with the McCall/Hendrie crowd I ain't paying another £130.

Not sure where this comment comes from, "With spaces in The 2013 Players’ Lounge next season extremely limited, supporters are advised to guarantee their place as early as possible, in order to avoid disappointment"

2013 lounge, 1903 club, 33% rise on season tickets and 4 kits next year. You wouldn't think unemployment has risen massively in Bradford and the majority of people have been made financially worse off by the pandemic.

I'm all for raising a bit of money, and I'm guessing these enterprises are targeting a certain demographic however we need to be careful we don't start alienating fans all of a sudden

Problem could be if they get a lot of banqueting bookings. They normally close one of the 3 suites and shuffle everyone into the other two. That will not be an option this year as there will only be the Hendrie and McCall suites so will no be able to close one for any match
