Looking at the second goal it's not like Neill Byrne to be completely oblivious to his man running off him and then be completely unaware of what's behind him while he eases up.

I mean, at least the Cheltenham goal was offside so it doesn't count or summat.

 

We need not to play Pointon out side. He was utter shire. If he wasn’t from Bradford I would say many would be agreeing. Looks a conference player at this moment.

We need pace out wide and yes a forward that can score goals in the box.

We seriously need to address our midfield. Smallwood needs to start but he shite but not the problem. We need a create player next to him that can get into the box, create and shoot.

The squad is all over the shop. Lucky for us most others teams are shite in this league.

 

We are in the 4th division and attracting massive crowds yet we accept "going for the play offs" as ok.

 

Bobby is the only player we have who can pass a ball through a defence. We shouldn't need to be lucky that other teams are shite with the fan base we have.

 

Well out wide he can’t beat a man, lacks pace, weak on the ball, poor at crossing. Offers nothing for an over lapping defender.

Hard to play through balls out wide.

Tell me was Pointon good yesterday? NO.. extremely overrated by some. He’s average.
Do we lack pace in the team? Yes
Cook scores the goals but offers nothing to the team barring that. Yes, he needs to play but needs pace around him.
Our midfield overall is shite.

Sorry, how many seasons we been in Div 2? Are we pulling down trees this season?

2-1 Donny was a fair reflection of what I watched. Dangerous in the break. The better team for an hour. Could have been 4 or 5 based on the ones they missed. We subsided. Good start. Pointon and wright combining to overload several times and get in behind. Poor final ball letting us down. switching sides with walker second half didn’t work.
Smith offered nothing of note. We missed the energy of Kav. The ability to push back a team in possession. Our press was yards off leading to the first starting at the front.
Donny deserved the win.
Apparently though they can’t beat sides that park the bus. Sound familiar? Disappointing as city aren’t at Donny’s level based on today. Not far off but need to improve.
Not going to chuck the baby out with the bath water tonight. Onwards.

It's a shame about Sanderson because he's the only one who looks to have something about him. He's not really had the chance to build up a relationship with Cook and until he does, we won't know if he's any better than Kav who's had numerous chances to form that partnership. Anyway, let's get back to winning ways next Saturday where hopefully some of the injured players might make an appearance, as some of the loanees may not be granted permission to play in the cup.

 

You were doing well there until you said Smallwood is shite, he clearly isn't and Cook aside, has been our best player this season. However, you are right that he needs someone creative alongside him.

That folk think Doncaster are this great side but in all honesty we made them look a lot better than they where with a piss poor defensive play............. that 1st goal was something on level with schoolboy football 3players attracted to one ball leaving one man to have a free shot on goal ........... truly shocking.

I think why people are so peed off is that yesterdays defeat was preventable in terms of selection and simply piss poor defending.

Still we go again and lets hope this group is thereabouts come the new year because if we are up there and we dont have some real investment down then it simply show what a con job they really have done

Nothing he is a striker who doesnt score goals and sadly when Cook is off the pace then in a nutshell we are fooked.

 

I think that pretty much sums up yesterdays performance, the only thing I would say is we do have a player with pace unfortunately we cant shoe horn him into the formation that Alexander wants him to play.

 

I think your correct, I'm a great believer if what your seeing being played out on the pitch is not what you've trained all week to do you think positively and change it, it was quite clear from Alexanders post match interview he thought sending the same 11 out for the second half after his half time team talk they would preform differently, I don't understand why as I've posted we could have been 3/4 down by then, my point was if were creating little which was very much the case first half why persist, Smith was not alone but I just felt he offered nothing with regards his positioning and dragging defender about something Kavanagh does, but always good to hear another posters take.

Agree he's not a wide player. Disappointed that the gulf between the 2 teams yesterday was so huge. This was our first test since finding "form" and we failed miserably. We are supposedly a massive club yet can't attract players like their numbers 7 and 21.
