Jon, that would be an excellent return. 15 points would mean needing approx 7 points from final 6 games, which I'd take all day.

I'm gonna go with the following :

    Wins Plymouth, Walsall Blackpool
    Draws Wycombe Fleetwood, Oxford Peterborough
    Defeats Portsmouth, Luton, Charlton

We both have one common theme, we don't give up ground on those teams around us.

Wycombe will be a hard game, Adebayo still playing for them and always a threat.

Not much commentary needed, beyond :poop:. The third segment flattered to deceive, as it turned out, and we are back to the form and prospects of the first two 10-game segments.

    1st 10: 2-1-7, 7-15, 7
    2nd 10: 2-1-7, 8-21, 7
    3rd 10: 5-2-3, 21-15, 17
    4th 10: 1-2-7, 7-17, 5

    Home: 7-2-11, 24-29, 23
    Away: 3-4-13, 19-39, 13
    Total: 10-6-24, 43-68, 36

    Leading/Drawing/Trailing at HT

    Leading: 9-2-0, 26-7, 29
    Drawing: 1-3-7, 8-18, 6
    Trailing: 0-1-17, 9-43, 1

    Leading/Trailing at any point

    Leading: 10-2-2
    Trailing: 0-1-24
    (0-0: 3)
Both led and trailed in same match: Blackpool (A), Walsall (A)

    Managers

    Collins: 2-0-4, 4-8, 6
    Hopkin: 7-6-15, 34-47, 27
    Drury: 0-0-1, 1-5, 0
    Bowyer: 1-0-4, 4-8, 3

Right...let us bury this season well and deep, head separately from body, each with a silver stake driven through it, with maybe some crosses and garlic added for good measure, along with anything else suitable that any of you can think of!

(And for @Manningham bantam@Manningham bantam the answer is no!)

    10-game segments

    1st 10: 2-1-7, 7-15, 7
    2nd 10: 2-1-7, 8-21, 7
    3rd 10: 5-2-3, 21-15, 17
    4th 10: 1-2-7, 7-17, 5
    last 6: 1-2-3, 6-9, 5

    Home: 7-4-12, 25-31, 25
    Away: 4-4-15, 24-46, 16
    Total: 11-8-27, 49-77, 41

    Leading/Drawing/Trailing at HT

    Leading: 10-3-0, 30-10, 33
    Drawing: 1-4-9, 10-22, 7
    Trailing: 0-1-18, 9-45, 1

    Leading/Trailing at any point

    Leading: 11-3-3
    Trailing: 0-1-27
    (0-0: 4)

Both led and trailed in same match: Blackpool (A), Walsall (A), Bristol Rovers (A)

    Managers

    Collins: 2-0-4, 4-8, 6
    Hopkin: 7-6-15, 34-47, 27
    Drury: 0-0-1, 1-5, 0
    Bowyer: 2-2-7, 10-17, 8

    But wait, there's more:

A quick (i.e. not definitive) look over my lists suggests that in league play we made our top-10 lists for each of:

    Fewest: home and total wins; home, away, and total points (3 points for a win era);

Most: home, away, and total defeats; successive home, away, and total defeats; home and total clean sheets against.

I'd imagine that only 1 point gained from a losing position, and our records when drawing or trailing at the half, are also firmly amongst our worst ever.

    Good news!

Just to end on a happy note...we also made our top-10 list for most successive clean sheets at home, and we were undefeated when taking a lead into half-time.

Thank heavens this season is over!

Well done @River_City_Bantam@River_City_Bantam. You were almost bang on the money with your prediction that 55 points would be needed for safety. It was interesting (and depressing) looking back, I’m struggling to remember a season like it. Never again can we afford to start so badly, if we do it will more than likely end in tears.

So Collins who we sacked after 6 games? Turned out to have the best points percentage record of all the managers this season?

Would love to have this as a comparison for next season, good indication of where we would be headed!

    Thanks.

I prefer the 55-point target, but as it turns out, this was a season in which 50 did do it, albeit on goal difference. It is certainly a depressing summary; but even in our badness it seems to me that we only had our worst league season ever in one category: 11 clean sheets against at home (old record 9).

Shrewsbury away flattered to deceive; the awful preseason really just carried on thereafter. A side can overcome one bad segment, a second means serious trouble, add a third and relegation is almost a certainty. You're right, we cannot have a repeat unless we want to become the next former first-tier side to play in the conference.

I fear that unless we shift as many of the current squad as possible, the mental scars from this season will return during any bad spell we incur.

Those players who choose to remain, know they're hated by the fans and will realise at the first sign of trouble, they'll be the first ones to get the blame. We know they don't have the mental strength, we've seen it first hand. With any luck, this will be enough for them to get as far away from VP as possible.
