I think you are right @Plastic Bantam. Edin has said they wanted to go a certain way, ie cheap and somebody who develops youth. I don’t think they interviewed or I would be very interested in knowing exactly how many.

 

He comes across well from what I’ve heard.

Had the players in for double sessions and wants them to work hard for each other. Also mentioned about not being a massive squad with little experienced pros so that may be something he looks to change.

Can’t wait to see how he gets us playing personally

 

I don't expect we'll see much entertaining football over the next few weeks, I imagine it's going to be "back to basics" so to speak with an emphasis on keeping it tight at the back and avoiding leaking goals. As long as we put in a few cohesive performances and look like a team rather than a number of individuals then I won't complain if we scrape a few wins and draws.

 

We have a good group of individuals but surely he needs to have a look at josh Wright being captain?
We need a vocal leader on the pitch and that’s willing to get stuck in and grab the game by the scruff of the neck,josh Wright ain’t that player.
But who else is there?

 

Defensive duties are critical given we can't hit a barn door.

If we can somehow invite teams onto us, that will be best case scenario for non physical forwards like Doyle and Ball. If we can't, I fear we lack the straightforward fire power to make an immediate impact.

 

I like Hopkin, I liked him as a player as well. He is intelligent and thoughtful which is always good to see. I imagine he will keep it as tight as possible and yes we may still loose a few, before he pulls it round, but I am optimistic he will get this team going, and we will start to see some semblance of a team forming in the next few weeks. If he can instill some confidence that will be half the battle.

 

Well if the new man thinks it would be better suited to another player I think he's strong enough to change it, look at what Grayson did not only brought McMahon back into the side but made him Captain.

 

Just got a gut feeling this bloke will get a few things fixed. Same feeling tells me he will do better than the "championship" manager.

 

Not wishing to cause doubt
Hopkin may turn out to be the best thing since sliced bread and he certainly seems to have the strength of character needed but at this level he is un proven Ok he took Livingston to two successive promotions but that was in Scotland, The root cause (the system and its personnel) is still there and we all know what happens when two strong characters lock horns a battle he won't win
Only time will tell and everyone seems confident he can start to rebuild the club
First acid test for me is who and if he appoints as his own back room staff and what happens to the current encumbents if replaced

 

If DH has done his homework and watched our games thus far I would think he can see that Wright so far is not up to the job.. personally I would give the arm band to the goalie rather than an outfield player in our case.

 

I'm suprised/shocked with how easy it's been for fans to forget there anger/disappointed/distrust of the chairmen by just making this appointment. It was always black and white that Edin is the root of all evil yet now he has been bought a bit of time and everything is looking rosey. It's bizarre. The protests are on hold, the plane banner has been cancelled, fans are getting refunds on their Edin Out t'shirts!!

 

Let's hope sucsess breeds sucsess in Hopkins case.

 

That is an extremely simplistic view of what is happening!

 

One thing we are going to find out is just how good this squad is. Due to Collins being out of his depth, a lot of our players got a fair bit of leeway previously but there'll be no hiding place now.

I remember vividly that false dawn I thought Hopkin had a good game, heldvthe midfield together well. Petrescu was awful, don’t think he broke sweat.
