The problem he has is the window is shut, so he has to manage and develop players that are here, even if the ego has given him full control. I honestly can’t see Hoppy taking this job without it tbh. When he came to us to play, he was already done as a player, hence all the injuries, but a bloody good tough no nonsense midfielder in his hey day. Something lurking in the old memory bank when he left us, saying he felt that we had not had value for money with him, and that he owed us!

Well he certainly has done well in Scotland.

If it is Hopkin I'm pretty happy with that. It's a lot less of a punt than Collins, well, so would have promoting the tea lady tbf. He's done well so far in his managerial career, he has a link with the club even if fairly small, and i'd hope he will take no crap off Edin. He needs to be given the remit to manage/coach whatever you want to call it. Also should be in control of any recruitment he requires. Fingers crossed he can get us organised and back to basics and then build from there. Priority is to get us the points to stay in this league. We have some decent players but also a hell of a lot of very average and inexperienced ones. It's not going to be easy, hopefully he'll get us moving in the right direction.

I agree it's going to be very tricky to turn our team around. I'm certainly not expecting too much too soon but a gradual improvement in terms of effort, cohesion and the start of a discernable team identity and I might start to get ready to be optimistic

 

Agree, fans are going to have exercise some patience while he tries to sort the wheat from the chaff. A draw would be a result at Blackpool, he will have the players respect, he has played at a higher level than most. I expect him to sort our midfield out pronto, he was a tough hardworking midfielder who was not afraid to tackle, so look out lads softies can go hide now lol

It seems like a decent appointment and I think we need to be patient now. We built a poor squad over the summer and ultimately t's not his. Anything above relegation will do for this season and he can then get on with the rebuilding job. Hopefully he's been reassured with competitive budgets and control.

Thirded. Kilgallon would have been an obvious choice, but... None of the other veterans have done more to earn the position. There's certainly no one left who's been at the club for several seasons now, leading by example. I would still prefer it to be the players' choice though, not management's.

Happy with this. Played at the highest level and was in my opinion a good player too. Full of energy midfielder and technically very good. Let’s hope his first session is with the midfield.
