We’d want someone who embraces attacking football. Someone who can help to reconnect the fans to the club, transmit a sense of pride in playing for the shirt. Someone we trust and can get behind.

Someone like Stuart McCall would be ideal.

Exactly. If the replacement has the same strings to Edin, it’s irrelevant.

Someone who wouldn’t be afraid to twatt rahic as soon as he meddled, or at least someone who would stand up for his principles and tell the world why he was sacked.

Mick McCarthy or Ian Holloway fit that bill.

Given the right conditions Mick McCarthy all day long would get us promoted and established in the championship.

Guys we have to be realistic no manager worth there salt will come near vp as proven in the summer due to a certain Rahic wanting to control everthing from picking the team to driving the team coach. We are where we are thanks to this guy Parky saw sense after just one meeting and a club legend in Macca was not backed in jan or the end of the season after playoff defeat as Rahic deep down did not want him and knew he would have got it right.Sad but true and hope i am wrong, we are going one way league 2. Ive seen us in the old 4th division and prem and can honestly say this is the lowest ive seen team spirit, again only my opinion so don't all fire back at me.

I got more disappointed with every new arrival this summer, Tawheed was on something, nobody with a reputation to keep or save, would touch us with a barge pole! It is a relegation squad and needs a "take no shit" manager to keep us up but would Edin pay for a "Mick McCarthy"? Doubt it and it'd be yet another flip flop in Edin's serial flip flopping tenure, nobody would take him seriously after, oh wait a mo............

Speaking of which, Ipswich fans got what they wanted, an average squad kept afloat in the Championship wasn't good enough for them, they hounded Mick out and where are they now?

Some decent shouts for Holloway and McCarthy, even Bowyer, but there's no chance. Look at who our owners appointed. You think they'd want a manager, on a fair wedge that would stand for no bullshit? Not a chance.

When James Mason couldn't take any more mental punishment and left for his own sanity it was the final nail in the coffin, a coffin which Rahic has actively been encouraging staff, players and fans alike to add their own nails to. In a business driven by results and where every move is scrutinised on social media Rahic has been a complete walking disaster. It's hard to think of anything he's got right since he's been at the club. Bar the pitch, nothing else at the club has improved. The shop hasn't changed at all, the ticket office still struggles with basic tasks like answering phone lines and questions posed on twitter.
At least they've clamped down on folk filming from their mobiles, good to see our priorities are in order. On the pitch since January has gone from one *@?$ up to the next, i din't think things could get worse than the second half of last season but credit to Rahic for proving us wrong. The club is the like the bismarck battleship, rudderless and going round in circles while the enemy pump shell after shell into it. If this was a high street business you would be one step away from calling the receivers in. The last time an owner had such disdain for his company and product was Gerald Ratner, he reminds me of Rahic in his arrogance towards the situation.

Wouldn't want to see somebody like that fail, he has a career in front of him.

Best thing I can come up with is Jamie Lawrence, not had a pro-shot at management (for whatever reason) but had an interesting post-City career nonetheless.

The fans would back him regardless, blame for abject displays would be laid at the players feet, not as now, all the blame laid directly at Collins. Players would have to respond knowing full well where the the support lay.

Nothing to lose for Jamie, nothing to lose for us, everything to gain for Edin. Job's a good 'un.

Would love GJ in charge but wouldn't want another club legend under this current ownership tbh, Gary Bowyer would be a great shout imo.

I understood just why they/he appointed McCall. A change in owners and a very successful manager leaving meant giving somebody who the vast majority of fans both knew and liked was the sensible choice. Likewise with Grayson, undoubted previous success in League One. Even if it was short term, I thought he may have been able to turn the team around for a late run to the playoffs. Or if not, then with some support from the board, then he could have made a go of it this season.

I think some young coaches would even be prepared to work under a Director of Football type of setup. But only if that person had plenty of previous experience and was known to be very knowledgeable about the game. Not some rich ex accountant that was attempting to live out his footballing fantasies. I think Rahic's reputation has preceded him (football's a small world) and that made those that they interviewed think twice. When someone as experienced as Grayson says 'thanks, but no thanks' then prospective employees are going to question why he didn't want the job. Especially when he says that the owners should lower the fans expectations.

If the hierarchy and structure remains the same if/when Collins goes. Then I can't see anyone of any worth coming anywhere near the job, again. It'll be Abbott (working under Edin) for the foreseeable. I don't think they'll even bother attempting to hunt for a new head coach until next summer. They'll have their work cut out for them trying to keep this so called team in this division.

Well that's another more recent bug bear I've got about the set up.

Also, the supposed recruitment committee which is meant to be arms length from the coaching staff to ensure continuity and a long term recruitment strategy for the club without being subject to the whims of whoever is currently head coach, is now basically the coaching team and the owner which is exactly the same set up that left us completely in the lurch when Parky upped sticks and left.

I mentioned Craig Bellamy a few times when the manager search was underway in May/June. My reasoning then was that he has done his badges, has been working as a coach at Cardiff for a while now and has a good playing career to draw experience from. Added to that, I like the way he talks as a pundit. Makes a lot of sense and seems to have some good thoughts and ideas on tactics and aoproaching the game. I accept it could all be a lot of talk with no substance but it can’t be any worse than the current appointment.

He almost got the oxford job but pulled out when they were taken over, so he has obviously set his sights on a lower league job. I wonder if he was considered or whether he would be interested. I’d happily have him.

Not sure he'd get through the first week without launching a golf club in Rahic's direction.

No one wanted the job before so who the hell would want it now ? That’s why Collins won’t be sacked !

Rahic is the block to any sensible appointment. Word has obviously got about that he's impossible to work with, even in the the unlikely event you thought his model was something you could buy into.

Having said all that, if Rupp wanted to do something positive he would appoint someone like Heckingbottom over Rahic's head and tell Rahic to stick to non football matters.
