I think a lot will depend on who Alexander rates in the squad and who he brings in to replace who goes. I think it he gets the central midfield sorted that's half the battle. It's been our Achilles heel all season, the amount of times I've seen teams pass straight through us told me a while ago it needs a lot of work on.

 

As I said they looked a basket case managed by a guy who'd escaped from the local asylum, but credit where credit due hard to judge them in the first game of the season us going down to 10 men and playing the whole of the second half with 10 men but I thought they looked a good side at Valley Parade and played their football on the grass, as @SteveC says ripping our defenders a new one at times.

To be honest, I think being favourites for the drop before a ball was kicked, clueless bitcoin yank owners slagging off the fans, signing a decent manager plus a few excellent non-league lads, seems to have completely galvanised them into the surprise package they’ve become this season. I hope they do go up, I can’t cope with travelling down there for the 3rd season on the bounce and seeing us lose twice in succession lol

 

And Hutton the wing back on their left, long throw as well. He was decent at Swindon.

A few of our supporters thought it was going to be a cake walk in the first game of the season, but I think the majority of us knew our recruitment and pre- season was equally poor. Good luck to them but I've a sneaky feeling Doncaster will pinch that final spot. 6 wins (I think) on the bounce with some notable scalps included. McCann certainly has them playing well at the moment.
Although it's both sad and frustrating to miss out on the play offs, we've never looked good enough or consistent enough all season, be that due to injuries, formations or strange team selections. I'd like to say next season can't come quick enough, but I'm struggling to raise any enthusiasm, as I know it's another massive rebuild and the ready made excuses of 4 or 5 windows are already in the play book.

 

Doncaster have only one more point than City.

 

No chance Donny make that ground up. They need to get 8 more points than Crawley inside 5 games. Crawley will need to lose at least 3 and Donny win at least 3 of 5, not impossible but it's a huge ask. There's also Walsall with 5 left and have more of a chance. Even if Donny make up the points, their negative GD will hurt.

 

Agree, they've come good a little too late but I think they will be there or there abouts next season.

 

Teams that are suddenly picking up results like us will no doubt brick it when the pressure is put back on them.
Ok banging results in when the pressures off but shouldnt they have been doing that all season.

 

The majority have been poor the teams that have got resulrs against us have been down to us letting them look ok and nothing else.

I know Mansfield looked good but i think we allowrd that to happen where they really any better than Stockport snd Wrexham????? The big difference being that we actually competed against them unlike the Mansfield walkover.
We even battered the Mk Dons which shows how in a nutshell that this league is really poor and the reason we stand at this level is down to shit recruitment yet again ..........lets hope now that the lot behind this mess are shifted out in the summer

Are we missing Gillead? I would say not.

 

I was very much one of them, going down to 10 men obviously put us at a disadvantage but all credit to them and their manager he's put together a side who looked to have over come the odds, and as we're seeing with Doncaster a little patience can pay off in the long run.

 

No, we aren't. I said last week if Gilliead was fit Bobby wouldn't be getting a chance so Gilly's injury is a blessing in disguise imo.
