Why is it so difficult to actually use Oyegoke's real name rather than use some ridiculous disrespectful variant of it?! It's really not difficult. It's been the same all season...

 

As normal, i have waited to post and give myself time to reflect on the game.
Not as fluent as the Tranmere game , but a win is a win, 3 more like that over the season and we would be sat in the playoffs, which shows how poor the league and we have been this year.
Gillingham were poor and quite physical how they got away with some of the challenges second half , the one on Ogeyoke and then their player pushing him over and both getting a yellow , summed up how poor the ref was

 

Really pleased for the lad. He's been a fantastic signing and had a great season.

 

The standard of this league is awful. It really doesn't take much in terms of ambition and competence to be top 7, and the fact we're not should a source of humiliation for everyone at the club.

 

Dull game that.

The standard is so mighty poor in this league. For us to be mid table is embarrassing.

However, we won and for what it’s worth will take the 3 points.

I don't understand why after Walker took a quality corner right in the danger area Walker then plays a short corner out to Smallwood and nothing happens, surely we cant be thinking of extending his contract, for a guy who recently played in the Championship he has shown little quality and even less leadership as Captain.

 

You talk about poor decision making etc but the one constant is smallwood. The guy is extremely poor and has been no better than a 4/10 since his arrival. The majority of the games revolve around him, and that is one of the main reasons we are terrible. We only fluked the play offs last season due to the rest of the division being of a poor standard IMO, as well as having Banks and Critchlow

 

I think a lot will depend on who Alexander rates in the squad and who he brings in to replace who goes. I think it he gets the central midfield sorted that's half the battle. It's been our Achilles heel all season, the amount of times I've seen teams pass straight through us told me a while ago it needs a lot of work on.

 

Awful game and most surprising thing is how awful Gillingham were, the seasons end can’t come soon enough.

 

I can't agree that the whole team played well. Halliday scored a very good goal, Pointon, the two Walker's and Oyegoke for his block on the line, all battled away.
Cook should have scored but didn't. Platt was good in parts and poor in others.
Smallwood was poor I thought. Terrible passing accuracy. Other players were middling.

 

Halliday worthy of his MOTM award, and thought okidoki did well again today

But if we lose Halliday at the end of the season, Sparks is fully responsible for refusing to tie him down quicker. Pig headed sod

 

We won’t be anywhere near achieving success next season if Smallwood is a constant starter in midfield.
If he never plays for the club again it will be no great miss.

 

We have had nobody in recent seasons who can put their foot on the ball and make a decent pass, our midfield for me is ok at making the tackles but lacks that quality to pick out a forward with a decent pass

 

We just have no control when he plays, first time aimless balls in the air upfront and it just comes straight back....we have had so much more control when McDonald has played in there....

 

Unfortunately whilst listening to Radio Leeds one of the comments was Alexander really rated Smallwood but his contract is up, he then passed comment "would the fans agree"
A BIG NO FROM Bronco hasn't shown anything near the quality I expected, sorry Richie no extension from me.

 

I know what you mean and for all the criticism he gets, we do look worse without him. He does read the game well and makes a lot of interceptions.

What we don't really get is much contribution from an attacking perspective. He rarely threatens the goal and, for me, hasn't offered vision or much direction in our attacking play. Going on the theory that he must be around our most well-paid player, I don't think he offers enough. I never get the sense that he is running the game, which is what I thought we might get when he joined us.
