We have had nobody in recent seasons who can put their foot on the ball and make a decent pass, our midfield for me is ok at making the tackles but lacks that quality to pick out a forward with a decent pass

 

We just have no control when he plays, first time aimless balls in the air upfront and it just comes straight back....we have had so much more control when McDonald has played in there....

 

Yeah. A game of football that I'll have long forgot about tomorrow.

 

And Crawley has smashed Mansfield 4 - 1

Remember... They had no team two weeks before the season started.

That's how poorly this club has been run.

Until RS, SG, GA, Herr Rupp goes sod all will change. Apart from the same mistakes.

 

A typical end of season game that won’t live long in the memory. Cook should have scored in the first 5 minutes but then they could have scored 3 goals but for 2 great saves from Walker and an Oyegoke clearance off the line. A rare goal from Halliday which the keeper should have done better with. The 2nd half a bit of a non event but we held on comfortably and it’s just good to see us win at home.

 

I thought Smallwood was decent today.

Happy to accept I may be in a slight minority with that view though

 

Hopefully Sharp sees what we see and manages to persuade GA he needs binning.

 

Elliot Watt was under appreciated by some and he's never been replaced. Smallwood is garbage, got absolutely no technical ability whatsoever.

 

The number of misplaced passes when he does actually play it on the deck is ridiculous.

 

Why is it so difficult to actually use Oyegoke's real name rather than use some ridiculous disrespectful variant of it?! It's really not difficult. It's been the same all season...

I'm hoping that our focus is rebuilding our midfield. We've been very unlucky in losing Pattison for the season, but we need to get some quality in there for next season.

 

I'm teetering when it comes to Smallwood.

If he's expensive, I'd be in favour of letting him go for sure.

But I think he could still be useful with the right midfield around him, and let's be honest, most of the season he's been expected to do it all on his own with either Gilliead buzzing around but not really being a proper centre mid, or some sort of attacking midfield set up consisting of any of Oduor/Walker/Pointon or something even more made up.

I might keep him but build that midfield area properly.

 

I know what you mean and for all the criticism he gets, we do look worse without him. He does read the game well and makes a lot of interceptions.

What we don't really get is much contribution from an attacking perspective. He rarely threatens the goal and, for me, hasn't offered vision or much direction in our attacking play. Going on the theory that he must be around our most well-paid player, I don't think he offers enough. I never get the sense that he is running the game, which is what I thought we might get when he joined us.

 

He clapped the midland few today when they cheered he made a pass. City fans do embarrass themselves. The whole team has been rubbish this year yet he is the easy target. Walker walks on water in the same shite team yet Smallwood must do twice the work ? Dont get it . Sadly some will see the light when he’s maybe not here next year.

 

The risk is if we do that is we will end up with him and Gilly the main central 2 for the third season in a row. It isn't going to suddenly starting working so he needs to go. I also think we need a new captain and don't think that would happen if he is still here.

What today shows is just how crap this league is this year. Gillingham would be 8th if they won, yet were probably the worst team to visit VP this season.

Bring back Elliot Watt !!

 

We have an option on Halliday so it’s our choice if we lose him !!
