Dull game that.

The standard is so mighty poor in this league. For us to be mid table is embarrassing.

However, we won and for what it’s worth will take the 3 points.

 

So, my take on the game, with Pointon, Walker and Wright in the team we should have created so much more but Gillingham nullified us. We resorted to hoofing the ball from midfield to Cook with no success, with those 3 in the team we could have created so much more if we had had better quality in midfield. Some of our decisions were poor and made us wasteful resulting in putting ourselves under pressure for no reason. If we have any ideas of promotion next season then here is where we need to be better.
One thing I have noticed about this season for every team is the lack of consistency in the league, looking at results recently I’d say that no team has been able to create a consistent run during the season.

I can't agree that the whole team played well. Halliday scored a very good goal, Pointon, the two Walker's and Oyegoke for his block on the line, all battled away.
Cook should have scored but didn't. Platt was good in parts and poor in others.
Smallwood was poor I thought. Terrible passing accuracy. Other players were middling.

 

Halliday worthy of his MOTM award, and thought okidoki did well again today

But if we lose Halliday at the end of the season, Sparks is fully responsible for refusing to tie him down quicker. Pig headed sod

Agree but it doesn’t detract from the numbers .

 

Since we nicked a point off them Doncaster have won 6 on the trot.
Only 4 points off 8th but possibly left it a bit late for top 7.

 

First five minutes and I thought we were in for a classic, then it just petered out. Don't think the wind helped either team and the pitch has lost the will to live.

 

I thought Doncaster looked a different side to the one we played earlier in the season. Passing and movement, especially in midfield looked far better. Just left it too late.

 

Both Cook and Pointon should have scored in the first 5 minutes,

 

You talk about poor decision making etc but the one constant is smallwood. The guy is extremely poor and has been no better than a 4/10 since his arrival. The majority of the games revolve around him, and that is one of the main reasons we are terrible. We only fluked the play offs last season due to the rest of the division being of a poor standard IMO, as well as having Banks and Critchlow

 

We won’t be anywhere near achieving success next season if Smallwood is a constant starter in midfield.
If he never plays for the club again it will be no great miss.

 

Not a classic by any means and I thought we closed down well across the pitch and Kava was a constant nuisance. Cook just looked off it today. Should have buried that chance in the first few mins.

Walker (GK) was my MOTM with some excellent saves and in general came and caught crosses etc.

Wright had a good game at LWB with some strong bursts out of defence looking to set up an attack. Liked that a lot.

Otherwise we did look a bit more organised and worked as a team in good spells.

How their lad didn't get a red for that appalling late tackle from behind on Oyegoke I will never know.

They looked like a team of basketball players trying to play football. Touch them and they fall down.

Shows had much we have shot ourselves in the foot as three more wins would have us right in the mix. Hey ho onto next season.

Unfortunately whilst listening to Radio Leeds one of the comments was Alexander really rated Smallwood but his contract is up, he then passed comment "would the fans agree"
A BIG NO FROM Bronco hasn't shown anything near the quality I expected, sorry Richie no extension from me.

Okidoki or whatever he’s called was bullied in the air and the ground, definitely no centre half. Very lucky to win today but gladly take it and roll on next season. Shite today let’s be fair but 3 points so well done on that .
