Graham Alexander should be sacked

But we lost that game because we missed sitter after sitter, many saying if Cook had played we would have won, what they failed to realise was Cook couldn't play as he was red carded the previous game, Cook has not been the Andy Cook of last season but scoring goals is not all down to Cook, if for nothing else I'm pleased Cook managed to get on the score sheet to shut the Mansfield fans up for a few minutes.

If we're being honest no other team would drop their leading scorer when needing a victory. It has no logic to it whatsoever. Despite not reaching the crazy levels he set last season he is currently joint 8th in the division with 15 goals and 5 assists. And just like the Wycombe game, it showed without Cook we look toothless upfront.

 

Cook gets lambasted on here at times but i'd put money on him burying that chance that Walker had today or the early chance Smith had. This apparent wonder performance against Wycombe means nothing, we had a zero to our name on the goals column that night, something Andy Cook gives you the best chance of changing.

 

My criticism of him today was dropping our best player of the season (Halliday) and replacing him with our best midfielder of this season in Gilliead and replacing him in midfield with a player coming back from injury(Walker) who hardly plays that position. The dropping of Cook, who is our leading goal scorer for the small in figure inconsistent Smith was also baffling just like the Kelly substitution near the end with Oyegoke in which time he was on the pitch could and should have cost us two or three goals. I don't want Alexander sacked but this game was a red flag moment for me on his management.

 

Walker's miss was criminal , pull it back to 2-1 and it might have been different, minutes later its 3 - 0.
This has been a recurring problem ,not enough players with composure in front of the oppositions goal.
As poor as Cook has been this season at times, he still has 17 goals in all comps.
We need to find someone else that can put the ball in the net on a regular basis. Hanson -Wells, Mills -Blake , MCcarthy- Jewell

No way should GA be sacked imo, yes he royally fkd up the line up today but I like to think he learnt from this and it pushed certain players he was unsure of towards the exit. At some point we have to try sticking it out with a manager, GA is no Pep or a manager who's going to dazzle us with pure football but that's not what you need down here. We have the frustration of an uninterested owner constantly playing the sustainability card, but tbf despite this the budget we generate should still be enough for us to compete.

 

I am very torn with Alexander, he can be very honest and likeable but he also l comes across as very muddled at times
But one thing that is not in dispute - he is NOT the biggest issue at the club!

 

I dont think be should be sacked... but he needs to stop playing 3-5-2 against teams that like to play attacking football, because as we saw today we will get hammered, if he plays 3-5-2 vs Notts County its going to be another hammering.. also im one of cooks biggest critics but dropping him against one of his previous clubs who he has consistently scored against was a massive massive tactical error.. So Mr Aexander drop smallwood (worst captain ever) drop Odour (can’t cross go save his life) give Chapman a chance, bring Pointon back into the side and drop your 3-5-2 and maybe.. just maybe we’ll pick up a few wins.. simple..

 

What did Wilson do wrong in his substitute appearance against Donny, in the minutes he was on he offered more than most our attackers that night.

 

Alexander was a terrible appointment. He's a bullshit merchant, much like the charlatan that hired him and cannot walk the walk when it matters.

The worst thing we could do is give him a summer window to sign a bunch of geriatrics to play his pre historic brand of football.

 

That in a nutshell is what I am thinking.

A big however though. I wouldn't trust Sparks to get the right replacement in.

Unless we get taken over in the coming few months, may as well stick with him.

If we do get taken over, then a completely new change from top to bottom.

Sadly I agree.

We're fundamentally broken. Change is needed from the very top down. New owner, new CEO, A proper DoF, Recruitment overhaul, Manager, squad overhaul. It all needs doing, and it only happens properly under a motivated owner.

 

Well never know mate if he had been on and scored would the result have changed, I don't honestly know, I was impressed with Mansfield as a team they had quality for league two in most positions.
I mentioned the Wycombe performance as I believe once Alexander made the call not to play Cook he was wanting that sort of football/performance, unfortunately we never got going if you remember Wycombe stood off and allowed us to play Mansfield were on the front foot (that seems to be the new buzz word) from the off, how we didn't concede after that great run cross in the first few minutes I'll never know, the guy next to looked at me and said this could be a long day.

 

According to Jason (WOAP), he has heard rumblings some of the players aren't buying into GA's tactics.

 

TBH What are his tactics? High press? Long aimless passes? Slow dead ball kicks? Slow throw ons. Slow build up play.

 

Not only that but Pointon can't even make the bench. . . . with a side that lost 1 - 5. . . . and the score should have been far worse than that. We were absolutely taken to the sword, a complete and utter sht show.

I only have one message for Wilson and Pointon. You are at the wrong club. Get the fck out quick coz this manager hasn't got a clue.

 

Exactly. Thats the main reason I was reluctant to see Hughes go despite the growing clamour for his sacking. Just no point whatsoever in a managerial change if its going to be Sparks doing the hiring.
I'm far from convinced by GA. His football is generally awful to watch and his selections are baffling to say the least. They are not his players but Ive little confidence he will get it right in the summer with a full window.
Yesterday was pretty much a new low for me. The club is truly broken and for me, we have hit a major crossroads. Significant change in ownership, running of the club, and potentially a change at manager level, and we may start to believe again. Continue as we are doing and non league and oblivion beckons. It really is that serious.
