Stubbs is our best centre half, a proper no nonsense defender.

Play him in a flat back 4 with Platt, Halliday at right back and Richards on the left. That's easily good enough for this level.

We missed 3 good chances(Probably 2) but you forgot to mention Mansfield also had another 4 or 5 clear cut chances with shooting over the bar, Goal keeper pulling off great saves and hitting the post.

Stubbs is a good footballer who, in a good team with a proper structure and good players around him will do well.

The worst thing we could do right now is throw the baby out with the bath water and get rid of one of the few decent professionals we have.

I can take or leave GA would not be fussed either way if he stays or goes. However constant firing of managers has obviously not worked, surely we have to give a manager at some stage a chance to actually build something.

This manager wants to launch the ball forward which is 90`s football like when he used to play, going nowhere with this manager does not know how to play football on the deck and with what players , and surely has his favourite players.
Should have let McDonald manage he is more up to date with the football and likes to play and lets everyone have a chance. No way i would let Alexander spend money on players! hence why he has had so many jobs, like i said get a fresh younger manager who wants to do well. - McDonald at the end of the season.

 

Never got the impression that McDonald wanted the job full time and i have to give him credit for understanding that there is very little footballing nous currently at this club.

 

I bet he's bemused at how poor the football is at this level compared to what he's previously played at. Constantly see him telling people what to do. A shame we didn't get him a couple of years earlier.

 

At least McDonald played our great young hope on a regular basis. GA obviously doesn't rate him. The young talent is being wasted here.
I don't think GA has improved us one tiny jot compared to when McDonald was acting as manager. Sure we've had a good run but we've also had an awful string of results. We could be on another losing streak.

 

As we should have been, Hughes should have just replace the weaker players in that nearly squad and go again yes it was hard work at times but it has been said many times if playing that way gets us out of this league most would accept it.

 

I'd have thought that was pretty logical to most football people, its not as if he's resting players we've only 9 more games to play, if a professional athlete can't do 90 minutes twice a week then we have a problem Houston.

I thought his starting 11 today was capable of that like they did against Wycombe, I think Alexander did as well, trouble was Mansfield weren't having any of it, once they went 2 up nobody want to take responsibility with the ball and launched it to out massive attacking players.

 

Alexander's record in the league: P21 W9 D6 L6 Pts 33. Points per game is 1.57. Over the course of a season that would put us at worst case very close to the play offs. Anyone saying he should be sacked is just being crazy.

He's got a lot of criticism for dropping Cook today but if people are being honest Cook has been very poor for a while. Today was only his 3rd goal at home in the league, that should be questioned a lot more than it has been. It's not like we can't play well without him as we showed against Wycombe we can do well without him. Starting Cook would've just meant we played long ball to him and it showed when he came on that Flint dominated him in the air, I don't think he won 1 header.

 

Your correct he said he didn't want it on a permanent basis as he wanted to continue playing.
