I agree. It's a disgrace that the club didn't alert someone. Instead they kept quiet and hoped they could avoid embarrassment. The traffic of criticism was firmly in the ref's direction whereas it should have been aimed at Barrow.

 

Its not complicated. If the ball rolls and bounces then it's playable.

 

Sounds we should hear soon. I'm sure the referee will be aware of what went on with our game last week so doing everything he can to get the game on. If the managers say it's not playable then it makes his decision very easy.

 

There have been others posting vids as well so I think it's legit. What I don't understand is how the club posted less than 2 hours earlier that the pitch was playable, because that pitch hasn't got like that just over the past couple of hours.

 

How do we go with paddling ?

 

The ball won't roll in standing water or mud

 

Why does the ref have to wait for the managers to arrive, its not like they get a say, if the Barrow fiasco is anything to go by

 

Maybe to inform them that its off?

 

The mud will always look worse on photos when it is wet so it might not be as bad as it looks in the photos. I don't know what it's been like by VP but by me it's been bouncing down since about 10:30 and only just starting to stop and sometimes it can only take a period of heavy rain to take a pitch from playable to waterlogged like it did for that Barnsley game around 10 years ago.

 

The precedent after last week, is every single part of the pitch .

 

Apart from the fact the ref did ask them. Their manager didn't offer an opinion on it.

 

Well it has,it's absolutely siled it down

 

I'd guess its to see what they think as it's probably somewhere in between playable and 100% unplayable. Last week the referee was criticised for not taking on the views of the managers so you we can't criticise him for wanting to speak to them. It also gives him a bit of time to see how much the pitch will improve over a short period which could give him an idea of what it will be like at 3pm if there is no more rain.

 

If that's a wet surface it might be playable but clearly standing water will get it cancelled. Not looking good on closer inspection.
