Our best game of the season so far. We knew MK play a possession game, nullified them completely, and scored four goals with only 29 per cent ourselves. That was a master class in playing out-of-possesion football and worked like a dream.

 

The tinpot cup game against L1 Derby has helped us to a £120,000 Brucey bonus and one game away from Wembley. Yes, we played well at Newport, but surely the true imperative is when you get your tactics absolutely right in working out how to break down and shatter a very successful, top six possession-based team with an incisive, well-organized performance when you're sat in 18th?

I'm not the one undertaking research into random games to try and discredit a ref for a performance in a game we won 4-0.

 

Well if someone buys out Rupp the other two may end up going.
To be honest all this flak that Sparks and Gent is a bit irrelevant. It's more about having the right manager/coach in place. Yes Sparks will negotiate the players contracts and Gent will identify players for the club but at the end of the day I can't imagine Alexander not having the final say on who we sign.
It is noticeable that opposing managers have been saying we are physical side, well GOOD, we have been a soft touch for too long. Also that we are "route one". That's rubbish, yes we are direct but we do try to move it about and if someone is free out wide Walker throws it to them to get us moving forward quickly.
Playing out from the back and having 70+% possession will not guarantee winning games if the other team play high press, just ask Milton Keynes or Mark Hughes
Derek Adams was a kangaroo who pissed us all off but that was one statement he got right.

 

At least that's interesting and generated some discussion whether people agreed or not.

Someone has to talk up positive developments, especially while others are keen to do the club down.

 

The physicality and pressing aspects of the team 100% comes from both Alexander & Lucketti, who were both no-nonsense defenders in their playing days

Despite much early criticism from our fans (unwarranted IMO after only being here for 2 mins) the fruits of their labour are certainly showing signs of paying off. Hopefully we can build on the recent feelgood factor and press on, finish the season with a flourish

 

To be fair, and without trying to derail this thread, Sparks & Gent have made rods for their own backs and are firmly at fault for the criticism they have been getting. Although they refuse to face the fans, so one could argue they don't see any of it!

I don't feel like it, my ankles, knees and legs in general have gone. The little boy's room (can I say that in 2024?) Is now my 2nd home, apart from that I am chipper.
