Halliday ran McLean out of the game. Tomlinsons distribution was poor for a change. Gilleard was excellent at LWB and McDonald calm our play down. We were much improved second half. I would say Young looked a handful.
Cook barrelled his way through their defence in anger after his poor penalty. It was a determined effort.

Who is Tomlinson?

 

He's missed 3 out of 11 for us, all 3 have been this season. His miss today and the miss against Crawley were 2 very poor penalties so I think it's right that it's looked although looking at the other regular starters there's not a player shows taken penalties regularly in their career. Interestingly Young has never taken a penalty in regular time.

 

An interesting post match interview, for all the stick both Alexander and the team have had (justified at times) I didn't realise it only 3 defeats in 17 games.

You thought Tomkinson's distribution was poor for a change? I think it's poor most games, it's the weakest part of his game imo.

To be honest, however bad ou season has benn winning at Wrexham is a plus moment.

our football was poor today. But watching how aggressive Wrexham play and when in a challenge they had jelly legs a wins a win.

Mullen should have been booked in the first 10 mins for diving simulation, ref was a proper homer. But the good outcome was we won at tricky ground.

 

Basically they should have won and it wasn't a penalty as the ref had given a penalty against them in another game. Go figure.

 

What is Alexander's obsession with Odour? He fails to offer anything at all. Surely Bobby would have been a better option. Another frustration is leaving Macdonald on the bench. He's the only one who understands that keeping the ball on the deck and passing to feet is the way forward. He has to find a way to put him in the starting 11, but I'm not optimistic. Great result though, let's hope we can follow up.

 

I had their commentators on for the game today and yes home commentary is generally biased granted, but I have no problem with this normally and sometimes it's interesting to take in an outside view of us, but today I have to say was an absolute embarrassment on their part, any little contact from us was deemed as a rugby challenge and every player of ours down injured was apparently faking it, even Richards injury when he was subbed off as a result of his injury there was no back tracked correction on their fake injury call, there was way too many instances of crazy examples of this to mention but it's fair to say it was the worst commentary in every aspect I've ever heard. One of the sweetest tasting 1-0 victories I've tasted in a long while and these morons added extra taste to the victory, wasn't having a drink this weekend initially but I'm now relaxing with a couple glasses of white raising a glass to the lads for digging in and grinding out a result today after the poor run of form we've been on, the club/team has took a lot of stick lately and deservedly so in most aspects but credit where it's due today and well done to all concerned.

To be fair, his obsession with him only lasted about ten minutes this afternoon then he took him off again. The lad must have had flashbacks to when he was playing for his country.

 

What we need now is a trio of home wins which would see us close the gap on the playoffs and book our place at Wembley for a nice little windfall hopefully spent on the playing budget next season.
A happy clapper I am definitely not but it’s too early to sack off this season with 15 games left.
And yes I still want Rupp out but without the silly threats of boycotting.

Agree Park, but at the moment he doesn't seem very confident from the spot.
He's missed three this season - Stockport, Crawley and today.
Needs tsking out of the firing line for a while.
It's not set in concrete that Cook has to take every penalty.

 

Typical, today would be the game when I had it one via the phone but wasn’t able to concentrate on it. Didn’t even see we had missed a penalty until I heard it in commentary after the goal.

Cannot really speak for the performance, but the bits I did see we looked to have a bit fight and battle in us, which is all most of us ask for as a minimum.

Bravo Cook on his goal - his turn and persistent was excellent.
