I flicked it on for a bit yesterday afternoon and they stopped a guy talking to say "we have a breaking development at Chelsea....... and it is a big move...... it's a loan deal we are hearing..... for Armando Broja". And they dragged that out for hours. Thank god Hamilton joined Ferrari or they'd have had sod all to talk about.

I think deadline day is pretty much done now. Teams want their squad in and done as early as possible these days, rather than scrambling for good moves. Money is probably the bigger factor. Since FFP became a thing people actually monitor over the last few years, most teams are trying to spend quick and then limit what their cap is.

I'd love a Jan window without FFP one year, just tell every team January is a free hit, spend what you want and see if clubs actually go crazy.

Saw that Swindon brought back Harry McKirdy. Glad we've already played them twice, he always seems to turn up against us. They've ended up with a fair few players towards the end, thought they were skint?

Remember Kabongo Tshimanga? Felt like he was linked with us for about 5 windows straight a few seasons back? He's ended up back at Boreham wood on loan. Sounds like he wasn't the same player after that injury he had in his final days in NL, but Boreham wood made a 7 figure fee off him and got him back on loan anyway. Think he's out of contract in the summer, if he ends up scoring in NL again he might be someone we look at once more, but think his EFL days might be done.

The whole channel has just become a parody of itself.
I only watch it for the comedy value now.

That smarmy “Chief reporter” sat with his phone on the desk like he’s waiting for a text from Pini Zahavi.
We all know you get your info off X.

They even moved most of the Hamilton stuff on to their F1 channel so had to wring even more out of the non existent transfers.

We got it down to 24 but with Walker, Pattison and Oyegoke out injured really it is currently 21 players. Also the correct quote was "“We look to have around 22 outfield players, give or take one or two either way." so he has done that

That range of points would probably be sufficient. Although Barnet went down with 51, so let’s get the big 52.

That’s all well and good if GA sets us up that way instead of the hoof ball he seems to favour.

So, given the number of outgoings has been similar in incomings, it was a bit of an odd thing to say really. A non-story, perhaps.

Its wet, woke and abysmal cutting edge journalism - smarmy is a great way of describing much of what goes on

Because of the three injuries. Absolutely no question more would have been shipped out if they hadn’t been for the long term injuries .

One only had to track the daily transfers on BBC to see what was happening. Yesterday followed the rest of the window ….largely a non event. I only picked up the T&A transfer blog about three times all day . Normally it’s every 10 mins on deadline day. ;)

I think he was right to want to cut down the squad a bit but the main focus will have been getting rid of the players that weren't going to get near the squad like Tulloch and Afoka. 24 outfield players is probably a lot more manageable as you are always likely to have at least 2 or 3 out injured so it means you can do 11 vs 11 in training and have no more than 1 or 2 stood on the side then if you go below the 20 fit outfield players you can always call up someone from the u19s to cover.

McKirdy is a great signing. As said, he always seems to do a job on us. Winds up the oppo too. As much as he's a bit of a bellend, he's a great player to have in your team. I think he's a better player than Young, and therefore a good replacement. I think he had some sort of illness and didn't play much up in Scotland. I expect him to do very well on his return.

This Middlesborough player could be a great signing but are any of these players Alexander really wants, sounds like the goalie was a medium term target (pre Alexander), wright was here previously (pre Alexander).

January seems to have been done on a shoe string because of huge failings in the summer.

You can’t sign people if the squad is at or very very close to its limit and you can’t move people on.

Additionally the number of transfers in the entire EFL has fallen off a cliff compared to previous windows. It’s not difficult to understand why.

There is speculation that clubs are having to cut their cloth to match weakening sponsorship deals and its impact on buy now, pay later transfers. The Times had an article a few days ago about Premier League Teams owing a backlog in staged payments and performance fees of around £2bn. Presumably contracted payments are harder to meet if revenues are not as strong as expected.
