That’s twice…now it’s keep calm, prior to that I was shutting people down. I’m pointing out common sense.. People needs touch of realism without jumping headlong , offering money , for the right reasons I may ADD , but potentially neglecting the consequences.

Go to any financial advisor and suggest you want to donate sums of cash to a supporter owned club, which one has no say in how that money is used ….Guess what the advice would be?. It wouldn’t get past the smell test. That’s the reality . So please don’t suggest I’m shutting people down when pointing out the pitfalls.

No one really buys into football as a sound investment case. Its madness. Its either a vainity thing, or for the love of the game, or in the case of fan ownership, to try and safeguard the club for malignant or incompetent ownership.

You do know that capital letters are assumed to be shouting on the t’internet? I don’t need to go to a Financial Advisor I would assume that there would be no profit. If I had that kind of money a portion of it would be donated. Chances of me winning the lottery are next to nothing so it is all irrelevant.

I’ve never been able to get my head around it. But then, I’ve also had experience of other wealth business owners, and you think ‘how?’.

Getting the structure right from the top down, is essential. It’s the enabler for everything else that follows. If Rupp is going to stay on, and isn’t going to get directly involved or interested, a change in CEO and executive leadership is key. It needs an experienced, capable, well connected operator at the top of the tree.

Being interested would help for a start. Swindon are in the same boat. Their owner lives in Australia and the fans think he’s associated with drug dealers and other associated criminals. Their forum is worth a jaw dropping read if you have a spare couple of hours. Far worse than this.

This debate actually raises a couple of points for my limited intellectual mind.
If fans raised enough money for a buyout,
ironically the best man to lead the club forward would be Ryan Sparks in that scenario?
The second point is: posters are saying 15000 season ticket holders, times X Amount of pounds would be needed.
IMHO I think we have far more fans than that worldwide who would be willing to chip in. I personally know a good few who are lapsed fans for whatever reason who don't/can't go anymore, but who retain a strong interest and still have Claret and amber in their blood. Also a lot of other clubs fans like this sort of thing and would no doubt chip in. Don't dismiss this idea out of hand, it's not quite as absurd as it first appears!

There are no circumstances under which Ryan Sparks is an adequate person to lead the club.

I was thinking about this last night and wondered whether there might be an alternative. Rather than a fan buyout of the club, a fan funded purchase of the ground.

It's not without its difficulty in terms of logistics, and in reality you couldn't really have several thousand fans each owning a share of the ground. But there could be a scheme whereby the club buy it, and the capital is raised by selling a 'membership' to fans. Lots of ways to slice it, but say the purchase price of the ground was £3m. If 5000 fans bought membership at £600 a pop you have the capital. Could be done on a multi year finance option. Doesn't even need to be a charitable venture - the money saved on rent be paid back to 'members' until such time as their purchase breaks even. Or offset as a subsidy. Or wrapped into a 10 year ST purchase (I know, I know) - buy your seat and a share of the ground. Huge marketing opportunity and a way to safeguard future revenue.

Even if it only part funded a ground purchase, it might unlock the opportunity. Possibly even with our proud custodian footing some of the bill.

If fans buying the stadium happened how would that benefit the club, surely the club would just be paying the fans who purchased the ground rather than Gordon Gibb, would Rupp get it at a reduce rent, and if some one was interested in buying the club the stadium being a part of the deal that would mean them negotiating with a third party, just how would fans purchasing the stadium benefit us going forward, not knocking it just not sure who benefits from the purchase.
