I don't think Hunter would be brought in (if indeed he is?!)to add a significant amount of goals. Yet more so, to create that link between the midfield and strikers. From memory, Hunter is a tricky character around the box and can run at defenders. Pointon has that ability, for whatever reason, it would appear GA doesn't trust him. If he can carry the ball towards the box and eradicate some of the need for this god awful hoof, then there could be worse additions. He's only 28

He's not the forward we need, but it would still make sense.

GA would then have to shift out another 3 players before signing anyone else, though, if he's to follow through on trimming the squad.

 

Next week should be very interesting if as you say there's to be some trimming.

Can see Platt leaving, he's not getting any play all of a sudden, but imagine we're waiting for a minimal fee.
Can see Wilson leaving, at least on loan.
Wouldn't be surprised at all if we cut our losses on Chapman, either, and surely he'd get a taker?

But can't see us getting shut of Derbyshire or McDonald unless they're willing to become free agents just before the deadline in order to seek another club. Wouldn't advise it for either, though, unless it's a coaching opportunity.

To be honest, we could get rid of any 2 centre backs and it wouldn't make a big difference. Stubbs and Platt would probably be the most desirable due to their ages and high relative experience levels.

Your point on Platt - could have said the same about Stubbs a few weeks ago but now he's back in the team and doing radio interviews on BBC Leeds (it was interesting btw). So, that seems to be GA's style and when a player has played and then is suddenly not playing, it doesn't necessarily mean he wants them gone.

 

For sure, but haven't there been rumours about Platt?

I just had a look at our squad and tried to pick out the 3-4 players that would have to leave to make any difference in terms of squad trimming. Like I say, any two of those CB's could lose and we wouldn't notice.

 

If you mean random people with 12.5 followers on twitter called "Transfer Rum0urs BCAFC" and other daft things, then yes, there may have been rumours.

Point is - everyone sits here every day and says "XX must leave, they're getting no minutes", "YY must leave, there's 4 people in front of them", "ZZ must leave, they're rubbish", "AA must leave, we need to cut the wage bill". But what has happened? Very few of any of those names have left because football is in the real world where people have contracts and lives and mortgages, they don't just cancel their contracts and drop down a division.

Even now, after 5 weeks of official lines from the club of "we need to trim the squad", we can see GA is getting itchy about bringing players in when we've had only 4 go and 3 arrive! So, I don't see 4 or 5 leaving next week. Maybe 1 or 2 at a push. 3 if we're including Tulloch (but even he may stay).

 

Half a season doesn't really paint the full picture though does it? He only played 538 minutes for Barrow, mainly as a sub. Also, don't forget that he'd just been told a few months into a 4 year contract that he didn't have a future at city. His head must have been all over the place.

 

I thought he was more of a midfield player ?.

Attacking midfielder. I'd be surprised if we did sign him as we have Walker and Pattison covering those positions and I would have thought we'd buy another despite the two mentioned being injured

He's a league two striker unfortunately he wasn't a success at Barrow do we not give him a chance because of his time there and forget what he did at Swindon, I'll take our managers opinion when he's told him he wants him at the club and believes in him.

I'm not sure what your highlighted means, at the start of the season Hughes made it pretty clear he didn't want him anywhere near the squad, so at that stage we didn't know how it would pan out as we were all hoping Hughes would still be at the club and would take us up,
I find it rather funny when GA sayes with regards the football side he has the final say and makes it common knowledge he wants Jake to play for him, whilst I and many more believe the club want to cash in with regards what he's done at Swindon.

As you know I was told Pattison's injury would keep him out for the rest of this season., and Walker looks like he is injury prone, would he come on a free.

 

Hunter has left MK by mutual consent so no fee involved he's a free agent.
