I've got a piece of 2 by 4 at home that's better than one of them.

Being honest , his contribution at Colchester , was pretty poor. Endlessly running down rabbit holes imho.

I can't see the club spending money in January even if we do sell young. They will go for 2/3 loanees and gamble on them doing well and wait till.the summer to rebuild again and again and again

I think I read GA wasnt really interested in loans. Appreciate we signed Wright but we knew what we were getting there and you would hope there may be an option to buy if it all works out.

You would hope any loan is tried and tested (Cook, Walker, etc) and not an Afoka or Dominic Samuels type.

Its central defence that is the main issue for me. 5 very average players.

I am pretty happy with the MF/FW options when fully fit. I do think we really miss Walker and Pattison though.

There’s no hint of any ins or outs at all. All adds up to a feeling of just seeing out the season. I just can’t see us trying too hard to improve the squad, with the emphasis on reduction only.

You could say now we are stronger than we were before the window

Less is more - trimming is needed. Binning off dross like Osadebe and Oliver, with hopefully 2 or 3 to follow, should allow for 1-2 more quality incomings.

Im very happy with Wright and the returning Young.

PS - Bradford End gave a huge hint on a returning ex player we are trying for.

With the addition of 1 player (a winger) and a striker who won’t play for us, we’re only marginally better. I think they’ll save the big signings for the summer and have a real go next season. Just my thoughts.

Definitely need to lose a few, but I don’t see Young playing for us again. We’re going to need to bring in a striker but that’s not the thinking of the manager.

If it is more loanees then goes against all GA has said, going to look a silly with his recent 'I'm in charge ' comments

Stubbs and Platt were absolutely fine in a back 4 last season and although the style of play has changed I don't see any reason why that couldn't be solid enough again for the remainder of this term.

    How?

We've lost Lewis and replaced him with a keeper that hasn't been first choice for 5 years and also added a loan signing that's barely played in 12 months.

I get that you're a positive person park but how on earth can we spin that we've improved?

We've got Osedebe and Oliver off the books. That's a positive.

Yeah, I get trimming the squad is a positive and I hope we move out more but moving on players that aren't playing doesn't mean we've "improved".

Agreed. They would have been fine if we had recruited properly and signed a pacey CB as the third man, or had we used Kelly sooner. After losing Crichlow we needed legs alongside Platt and Stubbs, who we both know turn like oil tankers. Instead of recruiting to cover their weakness though we brought in Ash Taylor, a baffling signing that looked devoid of any plan or strategy. We quickly realised this from pre-season and used Oyegoki ( sic) there as an emergency CB because he was quick, but he’s a full back, not a CB, and even then, a limited RB at that. Think he got sent off first game he played at CB after getting caught out with a ball over the top.

Hughes cacked himself and had to ditch three CBs, abandoning the style he recruited for over the summer, yet he didn’t even give Kelly a proper go, and he’s done really well since getting minutes under GA.

Poor recruitment in this particular area from the club and Hughes’ poor judgement in picking CB combos that compliment each others weaknesses.

Hughes was ready to ditch Halliday in 5-3-2, too, yet the bloke has turned out to be a leading POY contender for us in that system under GA. Hughes wasn’t a good judge at all.

You could say Hughes ditched anyone who didn’t hit the ground running.

    Im disagreeing there...

    A) it was Crichlow and Stubbs in the main after January.

    B) Stubbs has been pretty shite this season. His lack of pace a big worry.

Lewis shite was though, although on paper it is probably a down grade with Walker.

    Young IN Oliver OUT
    Wright IN Osadebe OUT

To me they are upgrades as things stand. Park is right.
