Ryan Sparks Interview

So nothing then. You have continually derided the club since any City forum has existed yet, 15+ years on you still roll out the same mantra. Maybe you should front up a rebellion that you so often ask for and get the job done.

IF you believe what you type than this should be really easy for you to set up.

 

I am not sure you are correct that the majority of the fan base is happy with what is going on. Apart from @Park bantam I cannot recall any poster on here expressing any form of joy about how this season is panning out.

I suspect a concerted protest would actually be very well supported.

 

I'm happy to see a level of cummumication coming from Ryan (it was badly needed).

However there needed to be some come back questions on his initial answers to get some more detail for supporters who are concerned.

For example first sentence.. “Pre-season was a tad underwhelming. It’s not always about results but it’s usually a decent indicator and the indications weren’t fantastic."

Surely it deserved "Please can you elaborate on what indications were those?"

It's better than no communication but so far there's nothing of substance.

Looks like Rupp got wrong by trying emulating Man City in promoting their commercial manager to CEO

 

I’ve been away a few days so just been catching up, I’ve only read the second part of the interview and won’t bother with the first. But did it say whether this was an in person interview or did Parker just email him some generic questions and wait for a reply? Reason I ask is it looks like the latter.

Another odd interview tbh, talking about GA’s style of play when it’s obvious that it’s a total contrast to what’s come before. I’d have respect for him if he said something like that he wanted to bring a brand of football to the club, like what Hughes brought but realised it wasn’t working so they made a conscious decision to change to a style they feel more suited to the level. But as usual no accountability or little sense or strategy.

Let’s be honest he got a promotion that simply wouldn’t have happened at a club where the owner had ambitions about breaking even on a spreadsheet. I don’t blame Sparks for that, he’s just not suited to the role. But it’s on the man above him, I’m confident one of the first acts a new competent owner would do would be to bring in a new CEO.

6 years of nothing but tripe an owner who couldnt give a shite and a CEO who simply aint a clue and still folk are willimg to put up with it.

 

What has Rupp got right?

 

It’s not bad luck at all.

Look, at his history. The most games he has played is 41 in a season for Harrogate.

He is prone to injury and we signed him. He is a decent player on his day but Bradford City need quality players available all the time.

We are signing the wrong players. This is so clear. Offering players improved contracts that are not kicking us on.

It’s a mess and having been back in this league for what 6 years highlights this. Not once have we really challenged for automatic promotion. It’s important that changes happen at CEO level and hopefully ownership because until then this club will just keep failing.

Sparks should be nowhere near footballing decisions because he’s proved unfit to deliver what is required to take this club to another level. How many managers and players are we going to continue to blame? The blame is clearly at the top and as fans we have to do something about it.

 

I can just about swallow what he's saying as cheap and obvious PR. My worry is, he believes it. He believes the manager search was extensive and robust, not a long running shit show that people (and our preferred target) didn't want. He believes we're 'top 3 material in most metrics' and that this is a reflection of a side who just needs to sharpen our chance conversion and we'll be fine.

 

Are you one of them or are you abstaining from visiting Valley Parade for home games, honest question?.

 

Sparks is a major problem for any manager because Rupp knows nothing and he feeds him with this nonsense.

 

It comes across as a pre-agreed and scripted interview, very disappointing from Parker when he got the chance to ask some telling questions.
And here lies the problem, Rupp has no real interest from afar so happy to run with Sparks as long as we remain commercially viable - so who is Sparks answerable to on the football side of things? Could just give stock answers here as like being savaged by a dead cat!
Just hoping any other installments (is there more?) are a little more probing

If the fans were happy with the current overall picture at the club I would suggest you should add Fans not Happy with fans acceptance of mediocrity

Seriously, it’s like the CEO and other members such as @wetherbywhaler think that us fans are mugs!

When really we all know Sparks needs to go and Rupp needs to sell or act at least he bloody cares about the club.

 

I get what your saying Simon but when have the majority of supporters been Happy since the Parky era.
If it's not the training facilities it's the ground or ticket fiascos nothing will change till the club's sold and even then there's nothing guaranteed.
I'm pissed off with the relentless negativity and direction my club is taking under the current regime but I can't and won't walk away from my team it's so frustrating to be a City fan.
