Oliver was fine as competition for Cook last season until he got injured and has understandably struggled after being out for so long. People need to get off his case, it’s not his fault that he was given a three year deal on silly money.

Couldn't agree more. What a lazy git. Oh, apart from all those goals, the many, many assists and the great defending back and high-pressing. Are you nuts?

Andy Cook once again leading goal scorer for the club, seem there's only you that doesn't understand the game, but lets simplify it for you :
The legend that is Bobby Campbell scored 143 goals in his 320 appearances that's a goal every 2.23 games.
Andy Cook has scored 58 goals in 133 appearance's that's a goal every 2.29 games.
Your logic does not stack up unless you accept that every striker misses chances.

Right you’re on. I’m holding you to that….but if he doesn’t score 10 goals then I’m afraid the same deal doesn’t apply the other way around :D

Wouldn’t it be infuriating if he did to further highlight how shite we are in the final third and the poor service the strikers get from set pieces and crosses.

Only to you everyone else seems to acknowledge it didn't work out for the lad at Valley Parade he can smash as many as he likes in for Stevenage it won't effect Bradford City our us fans one iota.

Referees have looked more like scoring than Oliver thought we had signed a monster when in fact we had signed a donkey just another poor signing but him leaving has freed up a space for more mediocrity

Last season, he looked half decent an it was clear that there was a player in there. Unfortunately, our style of football didnt suit Oliver, so we didnt get the best out of him.

Then the injury came. The biggest setback of his career, is how I believe Oliver himself described the situation. Since his return, hes looked a shell of himself. Lost a yard of pace, an his instincts are all wrong

Fair enough, we need to offload him as it isnt working out an at his age, he deserves constant minutes. But id say its fairly harsh to constantly knock him

I hope he does well at Stevenage for the rest of the season, an we can get a decent fee for him in the summer

No players we sign seem to fit our style of play.

goes back to that old question of who has the bigger say on transfers? Gent or the manager

Funnily enough, Watt would of been perfect for us under Hughes last season. Wants to recieve the ball an spray it across the pitch. Now understandably, he wanted a fresh challenge and a new environment. No hard feelings. But I still dont understand why we didnt get a like for like player to replace him. Instead, Hughes had Smallwood attempt to play that role

Moving onto CBs, Playing out from the back and Ash Taylor is the equivalent of adding water to oil, they dont mix. Also, with 3 at the back, if your playing a high line, you need at least one CB with pace. We got rid of Odusina, an didnt bring in Tomkinson till the end of August

Hughes wanting to play with wing backs from the start of pre season but not signing a LWB till mid August. The Odour excuse doesnt wash. He himself said he does not want to play in that role an sees himself as a winger

Having 4 strikers on the books last year, but only playing with 1 up top. Pushing the likes of Young and Harratt onto the wings.

Just multiple examples of players that have been signed that have 0 correspondence with our style of play. In summary, our transfer strategy is a shit show

He got goals out of nothing many times last season, winning the ball he'd no right to get out on the touchline, carrying it into the box and slotting it away. often scoring from one chance in a game, a huge reason why we got in the playoffs whilst deploying MH's pointless set-up.

Not only is he getting his fair tally this season, watch him when we concede a corner. He takes up a position near the front post, and every corner aimed there he gets to first ( watch Doncaster away highlights). Not only does he score bags of goals, he stops a lot of potential goals.
First name on teamsheet for me

It's not really discussion is it? The guy will probably end up as the 5th highest top scorer in the clubs history despite not joining us until he was 30. The rest is a load of b0ll0cks.

Would have stuck a high wager on Oliver moving down a league as opposed to up a league in his next move.

Baffling how he has gone from utterly useless unable to win a header for a bottom half League Two side straight into a League One play off side. (as I type that another sad reminder of how far we are behind the likes of even Stevenage)

    It's fairly rational, really.

    1. Evans has had him before. He knows him. Look at his signing since he went to Stevenage. He loves an ex-player.

    2. They were after Stockton but he turned them down so they need an alternative.

    3. It's a fairly cheap option compared to other forwards who are already in league one.

    4. He needs an option from the bench, not necessarily a starter and someone who is fairly big and can play up top in their direct style.
