Running on their own self sustained income does include big debt Park. Debt has to be repaid at some stage or the assets protecting the debt have to be sold. If the cash isn’t provided to furnish and pay off the debt if the bank /lender says enough is enough they are in serious trouble . Our opportunity to borrow , outside the owners bank account is difficult because we don’t own anything I’d say.

Blowing a competitive league budget on a large number of over paid under performing players (put Smallwood firmly in that category for me) , and then selling what coveted assets you have to try and salvage the books.

They “borrow” off the owner who isn’t fussed if he doesn’t get his money back as they have no assets , Colchester a great example?

They borrow off the banks and set aside the loans against assets, say ground and training ground ownership.

If the clubs have neither, BCAFC / Morecambe just two quick examples, there is little opportunity to borrow money at reasonable rates if they can borrow any at all?
