Don’t disagree one iota Andy. The ultra opposite of MH, let’s make a simple game complex! . The best managers will strike a balance and essentially be adaptable and respond accordingly to any given situation.

If Young makes a single appearance for us, he kills any chance of a transfer anywhere in this window.

Wells could have played for us whilst a transfer was negotiated. That's the key thing. Added to which, none of us really know what went on behind the scenes with Wells.

All footballers playing career are short but every player knows that when they become professional footballers, it does not stop him staying in the game coaching or in a managerial capacity if he wanted to take his badges, very few at Jakes level expect to make enough money during their careers to never work again, get a job outside football as many other players have done, I don't think he has the ability to become a Premier League player and get all the financial rewards that comes with Premier League status.
I don't blame him for doing what is best for Jake Young but don't make out you have a niggling injury when you haven't missed a game all season for his beloved Crawley, hence my Nahki comment.
I'm not sure how it was totally different apart from the fact Nahki made it open knowledge he didn't want to play for Bradford City again, where as it looks like Jake is just using a niggle to keep himself out of contention for either a start or a place on the bench knowing he may get the nod to come on as a sub.

Well if it is either of those two there will be a few on here that won't see the transfer fee figure they have quoted, Preston would be IMO a more realistic shout but I can't see them taking a gamble on a young kid who had an exception first half season at Swindon for a figure around £1million.

According to Dean Hoyle on Radio Leeds at the time Huddersfield Town had been tracking Nahki Wells for 18 months, I'd say they certainly knew what was going on at The John Smith's Stadium tapping him up for sure if not why would he turn down other options and refuse any other offer as he only wanted to play for Huddersfield.

We do know after an article from Julian Rhodes in the Athletic is that we had to sell Wells simply to continue trading despite being in a league cup final and gaining promotion at Wembley just a few months earlier.

He is the one most likely to get it right. But if it’s these two the bids won’t be much over 200k

Honestly Dave, every single one of us would do the same thing he's done in that situation. Blaming it on an injury is a discreet and convenient way of everyone saving face. Imagine the move doesn't come off and he has to come back into the fold having very openly 'gone on strike'. Impossible. No one's doing anything wrong here, it is what it is. It just needs bringing to a close quickly and for a fair price. That's where the club has leverage, to put pressure on Young (and through him, on interested clubs) to say 'ok, we'll let it pass off as an injury so you save face, but we want £x to get a deal done. Pony up, we can all shake hands and go on our way. Lowball bids and dragging it on, won't end well for anyone' etc

Can see this one dragging on until the window closes. Clubs must know were in limbo with him, can't play him as it jeopardises a transfer so he sits in the stands throughout January, decreasing in value and we'll accept a low ball offer at 23.45 on the 31st. If we weren't planning on playing him we should have just kept him at Swindon until Summer, hoped he'd continue to get goals and got a decent enough fee then. I hope we just sell him soon and GA gets some funds to improve us, which he deserves imo.

There's nuance. Tapping up goes on all the time. And just as much as I think players should show respect to their club, they also have a right to decide their futures. Now, that said, if Wells 'went on strike' to force a deal to join a club that was bidding less than others, that's where our own club has to dig their heels in and say 'no deal'. You need a strong poker face and negotiation is an art. You can't look at deals like that in isolation, you have to look at how you build credibility as a strong negotiator who won't be bullied.

At the end of the day Jake is registered to Bradford City he's our player, if as you say which I'm not disagreeing with they play along with the injury/niggle and no club comes up with our valuation do we tell Jake sorry son no one has matched our valuation your staying after missing a month of games, or go back to the club who had the best bid hoping to resurrect a deal if they have not all ready brought another player in.
We should have made it plain to Jake we are not prepared to sell him as we think he would be an asset to Bradford City, we have the second best striker in League Two on our books and its cost us nothing that in itself should make us say your here to stay as we keep hearing our club say our goal is promotion, we shouldn't even be discussing him leaving if the club are serious as you say not making a call could be very messy for all concerned and any future comment from the club with regards our ambition will be met with sniggers and rightly so.

The Nahki Well situation was well documented at the time many saying call his bluff (because he did go on strike making an injury the excuse not to play), it was very much a split between fans with regards selling him or keeping him, with Nahki still in the team we could still have got into the Championship with his goal return.
If we had achieved promotion Nahki would have had his dream of playing at a higher level but that was never the real reason for Nahki wanting out or he could have gone to other clubs in the Championship or higher who at the time were quoted as offering more money but his heart was set on Huddersfield Town.
Some saying if we made him stay and honour his contract he wouldn't have tried as it turned out we'll never know but one thing we do know is the comment Mark Robins said after signing him was what we (Huddersfield Town) paid was a steal never a truer word spoken.

I've not heard anything from the club apart from Alexander saying he's coming back as he's a Bradford City player, I've posted above we've got the League Two second highest goal scorer for nothing, and no comment from the club to say were keeping Jake who with his scoring potencial it will help us achieve our goal which is promotion or has that gone out of the window and were building for next season.
I'm very much a happy clapper and try to be positive with regards our club in most situations but this stinks, how the hell can Ryan look fans in the face and tell them were an ambitious football club, I get it he may not continue scoring but realistically what are we going to get for a lad who has one good first half of a season.

Agree with your post but having a 22 year old striker in your team that has scored 16 goals ready this season has to be a plus with regards strengthening our strike force ?.
