Absolutely agree, whatever happens to him, it should not be at Swindon. Despite what @Swindon says regarding 6 points being nothing, he's failing to account for us already being 5 points down on 7th..

With 26 games to go we are 10 points off sixth and that is a hell of a lot of points to claw back in 26 matches. The way I see it, we are already scrapping for 7th place and with Swindon in it at present, we can't afford to let them keep the league's leading scorer. Even if that costs us £200k.

If we sell to Swindon he can then play against us in the reverse fixture and worse still if we met them in the play offs.

Letting him stay there or selling him to Swindon is a worse option than losing out on a transfer fee.

 

Understandably, you’re thinking as most fans would. Unfortunately, those in charge see ££££ signs. Despite what some think Young will have a huge impact on who he may be sold to. If he doesn’t fancy it he won’t sign. FWIW, I think our only chance in keeping him for the season is you selling him to a Championship club and then them reloaning him back to us.

 

You're forgetting that exactly the same situation played out for Tyreik Wright last season. Only we'll benefit this time.

In fact his situation was uncannily similar to Young.

1. Relative failure at two or other three clubs, so that their fans laugh at the fans of the club they are getting loaned to.
2. Wipes the smiles off all the knockers (including me!!) and not only performs, but proves to be the outstanding player of the team and gets them up to their highest position in some years.
3. Shouts of 'where did this player come from!!'
4. Sold for a daft amount in January and is rarely seen again.

 

He didn't get released. We paid a fee to bring him to the club.

As said, it was all info from a close family member of his, so some things might be tinted with bias and there as always two sides to things. But given the few words said about the Hughes spell by the squad after his sacking and the lack of thanks posts form the squad members when he left, I wouldn't be surprised if Hughes wasn't too liked.

There's a multitude of reason why a player contracted elsewhere goes back to his parent club. Of which can only be speculated, unless documented elsewhere. What is documented is how highly Pete Wild quite rightly rated him.

Yeah right. He left because of Mark Hughes, he's gone. He lives in Huddersfield, 10 miles down the road from us. His best mate is Harry Lewis, our goalkeeper. The only thing he has in favour of Swindon is first team football.

He hasn't a prayer of going to a championship team and being a regular starter, and it's unlikely one would pay for him and then loan him back out. If he goes anywhere it's league one.

If we recall him and promise him a decent shot at first team football he'll be back like a shot.
