They can’t or have stopped doing the former therefore the latter will peter out after a few games. Compared to the farce at Crawley they have conveniently gone in the unannounced direction. I certainly haven’t seen the directive change since the season start.

I watched the Newcastle v Arsenal game last night, full 90 and the ref absolutely bottled it. The full belt charging into the backs of arsenal players must have happened 5-6 times, a clear elbow to the head captured on camera and “ checked” didn’t even get a booking. Forget the goal it was inconclusive, but the other stuff just went totally unpunished, and that goes for Haverts as well. Appalling officials and they are supposed to be the elite!!

In theory yes. But not always. Gary Boreyer was a full back…

I haven’t checked but Sky Sports is another place usually to be found after 1800 on match days.

Don’t think they can tbh. It is the normal channels that gets all the exclusive rights for the FA cup.

He cost us yet another goal and constantly gave it away by trying ridiculous 30 yards pin point passes.

I just can't see how any of that performance, from either centre half, can be described as playing "very well"?

Are you referring to Taylor? If so I am dumbfounded how you come to the conclusion that he was at fault for either goal, nowhere near

Which of the two goals did he cost ? The great first time shot from 15 yards, or the one Stubbs put into his own net with a header Cook would have been proud of ?

Correct, he wasn't anywhere near. Marking 15 yards of space all by himself with people unmarked 10 yards out.

By the laws of physics, he couldn’t possibly be in 2 places at once. He’s not inspector gadget. There is no way the blame could be associated to Taylor. Osadebe, Lewis, Stubbs….not Taylor. To be fair to the lad, he hasn’t been the car crash we all thought he was going to be after his first appearance for us

So by your reasoning if he was in the centre circle having a chat with their centre half he wouldn't be to blame because he "can't be in two places at once"?

I mean, call me old fashioned but I like my centre halves within half a yard of marking someone when the ball is in the box. Not sprinting 10 yards in vain to get somewhere near to the ball.

All I'm saying if that a decent centre half has a much better starting position, reads the knock down and is then standing a much better chance of blocking or even intercepting that.

Taylor is without doubt the 5th best centre half on the books and to me looks absolutely nowhere near professional standard.

You may be right about Taylor being the 4th or 5th choice centre back but well out of order if referring to the 1st goal yesterday. Watch the video.

He is marking a man in the centre of the box and when the header comes back in leaves his man to try block the shot.

Lets be fair when the criticism is justified but not on that particular occasion.

If you want to be critical of the goal Ridehalgh should have been tighter to compete for the header back in, Gillead/Smallwood didn't track the scorer into the edge of the box and Lewis attempt at blocking the shot was pitiful.

    It was Stubbs man??

On the balance of play this season, Stubbs has been at fault for more errors than Taylor. I’ve lost count how many times he’s been dusted for pace

Stubbs is another player whose confidence is in the toilet at the minute.

Our players all seem to be having existential crises.

Can't imagine Stubbs and Lewis wanting to be here much longer.

First goal was an unchallenged header beyond the back post into space behind the DM. Ridehalgh wasn’t within touching distance of the right winger. It was a clever header back into the box but a nudge on the winger would have meant that wouldn’t have developed the way it did. Gilleard looked to be closest to the guy who scored. Arguably he didn’t track that run. Both CH had a man each so it was an overload inside our box. That shouldn’t happen from a ball essentially launched into the box. The second was a miscommunication between Stubbs and Lewis. Lewis should have done better.

Stubbs “ going” to Barnsley was fanciful imho . He’s too slow for L2 ! A good “ static” stay in his box defender but other than that I personally wouldn’t miss him , nor Taylor who is very very similar .
