Why would Trueman have any incentive to do that though, extend? You’d rather just be paid off or stick on the contract you’ve already been given - and get the same amount.

the reason clubs pay off players/staff early is to save on the national insurance contributions, but from Truey’s point of view if he’s owed a certain amount, you’d rather have it over, say, 2 years than 3.

Wetherall deferred wages like you suggest in the days of admin, but that was him helping the club and is a rare occurrence.

The club is in a huge mess for sure, but relegation wont happen this season. I say that only because I think we will scramble enough points to stay out of the bottom 2.
We are a broken club though, and unless we get things right, both with the next appointment and in addressing the sh*t show behind the scenes, then I really do fear for the club next season. We are now back to the state we were in at the end of Adams tenure and its a total disgrace.

 

I think its unlikely, but not out of the question. Its clear that no manager worth their salt wants the role - and rumour has it that any with early interest soon withdraw after initial meetings with Brent Sparks. So I could see a situation whereby Trueman is given it till the end of the season. Then we're in a bad place, and January recruitment will be set up for failure. Cook is playing with an injury and if that gets worse, we have no goals in us. The extent and speed to which the rot really sets in on the playing front shouldn't be underestimated.

This false sense of comfort some take in our so called 'stability' is misguided. We're one bad season away from oblivion. And with our leadership, you can never rule it out.
