He was released by Watford in the summer and signed a one year contract with The Shrimps on 1st July.

For me the first 20 mins we were a bit shaky but we got into the game and pushed on from there. I think if we were 10-20% fitter as a team we would be very hard to beat. You can see that the style Hughes had us playing we never were able to play at 80-100% and press teams hard.
Happy with the result and effort today, that’s all we have asked for from the manager and team.

I do not wish to be negative but it will have been nigh on impossible for Swindon to know what to expect from us in terms of playing style and tactics.

It will be interesting to see how we cope after a few games, when maybe the opposition will have done their homework on us, when it can be predicted our playing style.

As I say not wishing to be negative, I sincerely hope we learn to "mix it up a bit" and keep everyone guessing.

It was a scrappy, full blooded performance that you tend to get following a managerial sacking. No more, no less and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Can't fault the effort but it wasn't a game won on quality. We could've had one or two more but Swindon could have had three themselves.

First game this season I’ve actually enjoyed. Only thing lacking was the killer second goal, and thought Osadebe was extremely nervy and poor

But what a contrast from previous games. I think the pressing should be a basic pre-requisite of any pro footballer, not sure why it takes a change in manager

Absolutely made up for Bobby P, fully deserved

Actually looking forward to Wimbledon away next Saturday now, season is hopeful well and truly back on track

Enjoyable game provided by both teams and I thought we just about deserved it. Great effort, movement off the ball , energy and looked like a togetherness both on and off the field.

A few to choose from but Halliday shades it for me. Tough first 30 minutes where his defensive duties stood a test but a test he excelled in.

However, one swallow does not make a summer...

Most importantly, did we leave someone up front when defending a corner?

My man of the match is Alex Gilleard he was immense followed closely by Cook. Of course young Bobby was brilliant and run them to a standstill. I have never been a fan of Gilly but today I can’t tell how impressed I was. His work rate was brilliant.

Hope restored today in this squad.
Even Oyegoke on the right was prime Cafu.
We are still crying out for a more mobile target man though.
Fingers crossed we get the league 1 version of Vadaine Oliver when he returns.

Lovely interview there with Bobby. Fantastic lad. His family will be proud of him tonight. Well done, Bobby lad!

Let's all hope others can come through in the next couple of years as well.

We need to get Pointon on to a longer contract ASAP.
Thought quite a few players looked totally different compared with recent performances.
Although Pointon got man of the match for obvious reasons, I thought Smallwood deserved to pip him to the award. Other mentions for excellent performances include Gilliead, Halliday, Stubbs and Lewis. Oyegoke was good when he came on.

We may not win but I’ve seen more intent int this performance first 20 mins than all season under hughes.
    Jarzinho scored for city.

First time I've come away feeling like I've been well and truly entertained for 90 minutes in I don't know how long and It feels good. Too many Saturday evenings spent feeling miserable, this isn't one of them, cheer up and allow yourself to enjoy it.

    Couldn’t agree more.
Bit of a dig at Hughes in his post match?
“We asked the players for effort and desire”

    Shouldn’t all managers do that?

We are still no way the finished article but to actually leave the ground looking forward to the next game with an expectation that we might be moving in the right direction is what most have been asking for.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall at chez Hughes.

    Maybe he won't care.

    One word answers only please.
