I don't know about the quality of his football but other than one superb season at Wigan his managerial record is neither long nor impressive.

Contact has been made with a few potential candidates Karl Robinson is high on the list. Things could happen quick.

If there's more than one potential candidate I'd rather we take our time and interview them all rather than make a knee jerk reaction appointment just to get someone in quickly. We can't afford another mistake, this one really does have to be the right man for the job.

It’s not the style of these managers that matter on the stage we are on. It’s the effectiveness

Really don’t want Robinson. He’s one of the most overrated managers out there, a complete gobshite and hasn’t achieved anything since his MK Dons days years ago.

Course the style matters. The style of football under Hughes, Adams and Bowyer before them has been a disgrace with little to no entertainment value. The biggest criticism of Hughes was that his football was so boring it was stopping people attending games.

The next manager has to bring an entertaining, positive style.

We will play more direct balls than under Hughes, but @Park bantam@Park bantam is exaggerating.

Cook isn't a target man, but he can hold his own, and his flick ons are pretty good. Doesn't he already have two assists for Pattison that way?

We will play a faster brand of football under Richardson, but then going from Hughes' style, it would be pretty hard not to.

It could be exactly what we need, we have the players signed for that specific formation, we just need to be more attack-minded and on the front foot especially against weaker opposition.

    Absolutely.

Now that Hughes has gone, we simply have to tweak our style.

Keep the formation, it's modern and it works. Tweak the tactics, because while it mostly worked last season for Hughes, it hasn't been working this season, and fans have found it slow and boring.

My worry is that Sparks takes Park's approach and just hires someone based on their CV rather than someone instantly compatible with the club and the players available.

    Richardson now 4-6.

He's the right appointment for me.

I agree with regard being positive but the if the result of us being entertaining is us losing games it would be unacceptable to everybody. The style of play is secondary to us getting results

    100%

When you reach a point where people can’t be arsed celebrating last minute equalisers because the previous 89 minutes has been so lacking in any form of anything that can be called entertaining then something has gone very wrong.

When going to games becomes a chore because the fare on offer is so pedestrian, then that’s reached a point of no return.

We all want to win but just give us something that gets us off our seats and actually looks like it’s had a bit of thought put in to it.

If you read the Wigan forum they say his failing was to play more physical players over those that had arguably more talent. His game is percentage football similar to Evans so I repeat I am not sure we have the players to suit that. But as Evans has proved it can be very effective at this level. But then you have people who hate that kind of football

Ideally, with Richardson in charge, we'd lead with this:

    -------------------Lewis------------------

    Halliday--Stubbs--Platt--Richards

    --------McDonald------Gilliead------

    Pointon-----------Walker----------Smith

    --------------------Cook-----------------

I'd like to see Smith getting closer to Cook as he's certainly not a winger, Walker more of a free role in the middle, and Pointon and Halliday linking up on the right.

Ideally I'd like to see Platt phased out, but that depends if Tomkinson or Kelly are above average.

McDonald is a better playmaker than Smallwood but not really capable of 90 strong minutes.

Obviously Pattison goes straight into that team, and I absolutely think Smith-Pattison-Walker behind Cook is as good as we're getting at this level. We can play more direct football with that men-not-boys approach.

Lads like Oyegoke and Tulloch are bench fodder. I don't want to see Ridehalgh getting more game time, he's been abysmal.

Lost out twice before betting on next City manager. Lumped on Hopkins but he was over looked but yet got it months later . Then Defiantly thought Hurst had the job but the Caretakers kept winning in their joint roles and he went to Grimsby. Staying out of this one .

Eased slightly from 1/2 last night whilst Cowley's odds shortened by the same margin.

That's what a couple of £10 bets can do to football manager betting lists.

It will probably be someone not even on the early lists who gets the gig

I think a lot of players will be sweating over their places not just in the team but the squad. I’m hoping McD or another senior player will work with the new manager to pass on insight and information.
