This is why I keep saying over and over again the money and budget is not enough. You need a certain type of player to play for this club at this level. A winner they cost money. You have to be giving over 100% every home game cause the opposition just up their game.


Those characters cost money, good scouting and good coaching. We currently have Stubbs, Walker and Cook who fall in that category . 3 spots out of a 18 man squad who I think have the mentality and quality to play for us and help the club achieve.

 

I'd add Halliday to that list as well.

I like Walker, but I feel he’s too busy putting out fires all over the pitch, to play his actual game. Gillead wasn’t good today, nor McD, which meant Walker had to drop back so many times. It didn’t help that Odour wasn’t in the slight bit interested in playing forward balls. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, if we ain’t got no gameplan, we ain’t got no game. No one seems to have any idea of what they are supposed to be doing.

This is a useful example of City’s defiencies. We let too many goals in through crowded penalty areas. I am not coach nor a former professional, nor a user of fancy jargon but as you say this should be sorted. We defend these situations in numbers. The defenders are getting in Lewis’s way. Even if the coaching staff do notice this Lewis himself should forcible tell them, swear if he must, to get out of his way. He can then move out and catch it. When we resolve something as basic as this we might move on to how we might have more than one goal effort per game.

 

Who sets the footballing vision, ethos, recruitment strategy for the club?

Dont think anyone has mentioned it but today City got beat by a team wearing Poundland on their shirts,

If you are getting beat by Poundland players then something has gone badly wrong with our team!

 

Why is it so hard for the manager to see it though.

As fans we’ve been saying it for a while.
Anybody who watched us last season knew that a mobile midfielder who can take the ball off the back 4 and move us forward was an absolute must.
I thought McDonald might be that player but today showed that up against a young,enthusiastic midfield who hurry him into losing possesion he may not be the answer.
Not having an outlet in front of him obviously doesn’t help either.
Admittedly Pattison is a definite improvement in midfield but he isn’t that type of player either.

We take so long to get to the halfway line that most teams have got back in to position and know that we haven’t the guile to consistently get through them.

 

It’s difficult for midfielders and defenders have no movement in front of them McDonald was urging players into space today which causes the likes of him getting caught in possession

 

Pattison, I believe, is also in that category.

If your vision is to finish 9th in the league, he's definitely your man.

 

The manager or coach sets the footballing vision and the pathway how to achieve it. That’s what the footballing managers job is. Thats what he’s paid to do and he stands and falls by his decisions. The CEO job is to provide him with the funds to do so.
Please don’t tell me it’s the CeO’s job. Please!

 

I’m not as assured as you, but we are all wrong at times?

 

For all MH’s faults, the players must stand up and take responsibility. That starting line up today was the same one that put Newport to the sword a week ago and bounced them off the pitch. How on earth could they be so disjointed and lethargic in front of 17000 fans, it is bizarre
