For the second half of last season Gillingham had a cracking run and finished 12 points above the relegation spots. They got the new owners in, and along with Neil Harris and Kenny Jacket it was obvious they were playing with a lot of confidence. They certainly weren’t favourites for relegation this season, in fact several bookies had them as one of the promotion favourites

So, either you have got the wrong team to use as a comparison, or you are clutching at straws as your ongoing argument is extremely weak

You are the only person I know of that says Evans failed. You aren’t by any chance the female steward that he allegedly flashed at when he came to Bradford are you? That might explain why you’re so against him. Don’t get me wrong, I have been critical of his antics in the past, but I would never deny he is successful and if Hughes was to leave, I’d more than welcome him as our next manager. And as for fans boycotting us if that was to happen, well I certainly wouldn’t be losing any sleep whatsoever over a few pansies getting offended and taking the moral high ground over something that probably never really happened

 

And with fans already divided what happens once we lose a match Evans isa derisive figure with a short shelf like. Also there are fans on here who look down on long ball football well with Evans I would bring my binoculars that I use for whale watching on the coast. Come to think of it there won’t be much difference

 

Imagine being so deluded that getting promotion is accepted as failure?

You're definitely a long serving Bradford City fan.

 

It’s first place or nowt.
Anything else is failure.
This concept of getting promoted automatically (succeeding in your aims)if you finish 2nd or 3rd is so outdated.

Iimagine winning the last home game in front of 23,000,clinching a shitty 3rd place and the players having to hide in the dressing room for an hour while the fans anger and disgust at not finishing top dies down.

 

It was for Evans last season specifically. Not for us.

 

I never said they were relegation favourites, just that they were in the exact same position as Stevensge.

Evans is clearly very successful, no one denies that, he would probably get us somewhere near, maybe even achieve it, but he would need a large budget that we can't give him. There is not a chance he does better than Hughes last season.

 

If he's won the previous 3 and we're in a decent position there'll only be the perma offended lot on here that are pretending to care.

 

Nobody can question Evans record at this level -it's exceptional. That said, I don't ever want to see him anywhere near our club.
A lot of views on this and other threads are basically that bringing in Steve Evans would guarantee promotion. Football does not work like that! Yes he clearly has a blueprint that has been successful in the past and at this level his record is second to none, although typically his successes have been at clubs with generally low expectations. Managing us would be a totally different challenge. His history with us would not give him a long 'honeymoon' period and any sort of dodgy run would see things turn very toxic very quickly imo. Most felt Adams (who also has an excellent lower level cv) was a good appointment at the time, but he soon proved to be totally the wrong fit for our club. When people look at Evans record in isolation, I get the attraction, but absolutely not for me - I really don't think it's worth the risk.

 

Very well put. He cannot guarantee promotion and especially not without his own squad. Plus it is the stuff on dreams that we can prise him away from Stevenage. Why would we spend all that money to bring someone who has been so successful in the past but can’t guarantee success and nothing short of promotion this year would be expected. For his part, why would he drop down a league and half the fans would go through the exit door. Yes financially we possibly could get him, but too many unknowns for me. It could well be another Adams disaster and a big financial hole to go with it.

 

By pure coincidence, football focus have just shown a piece on Evans. 9 promotions in his managerial career. Right up there with the best….yet some of our long suffering fans would turn their back on the club if he was our gaffer

That doesn't translate to this club if he joined just because he's been successful in the past.
