No inside information just a pure guess but i know Bradford End talked around a former city player returning and I wonder if it is Lee Evans.

At Ipswich had a serious injury and on the comeback trail…. Don’t think out of the realms however pure speculation.

We have done remarkably well getting fee's for foulds and Sutton if the rumour is true about platt and we receive anything around the 50k that would likely pay Gordon's wages for the first year if again that rumour is true.
I personally feel Timi has been hard done by, he had a couple of iffy performances and dropped beyond all recognition, he is 21 in his second real season learning his trade

Former player to return I would love to see obviously Wright or pushing the boat out massively banks, palace exercised the one year option in their favour, so would be entitled to a fee regardless.
How about someone like Oliver burke.....lost his way massively since the forest days

More than likely to be Matt Penney at left back or maybe a Mason Bennett or Jordan Graham

I think Bradford End said a familiar face would be returning, which doesn't necessarily mean it's a player.

They said that on a transfer thread. Context is key.

I saw Mason Bennett had been released. Good call. He has come a long way since replacing Wells.

    Penney more realistic.

Cant see Bennett dropping this far down unless he gets a cracking offer. Was a rumour that Sheff Weds were interested a few weeks back as well as a Derby return but their fans hate him.

All this talk of former players returning.... let me double check that Billy Clarke has actually retired....

Those “he’s coming home” videos for Clarke, we’re almost as cringe as the “welcome back” love in videos for Dion.

I wonder if we might see more of Kelly this year or if he will go on loan. I think he looked decent in his rare appearances

There seems to be conflicting information. Wikipedia has him as 1.83 m (6’ 0“). Transfermarkt put him at 1.88 m (6’ 2“).

The City profile have him as 1.88 m (6’2” ) https://www.bradfordcityafc.com/onthepitch/mens-first-team-player-profiles/defenders/matthew-platt/ But go onto say, ‘The 6ft 3ins defender scored a total of four goals during his time at Holker Street before making the move to BD8 in the summer of 2022’. (Trust City to have two different heights!).

I would guess he would be around 6’2”.

Funny how many men over estimate size?

Didn't he have a long throw on him too? Or I might be thinking of someone else.

I think we will. Good size, didn't look slow either when he filled in at full back for a few minutes the odd time or two. He turns 25 in a week or two, so he's getting to that age where he'll likely want to be starting games more often than not. If we play 3 CBs, I think he should be starting on the left of the 3.

The recruitment this year seems to have taken a different track to previous years, so fair play to them for trying to do something different. There is a fairly good chance that if a survey was done on here post season to name the first 4/5 signings, i doubt many would have matched up with those that have actually come through the door.

I suspect though i could be wrong, that despite comments from the club that it is, the budget is either lower (due to a bump in cook's contract) or some is being held back for x player/s or for January. Again, its only my opinion but those that have come in dont scream "big money, big expectation" type of players.

Dare i say that so far the recruitment is more "typical league 2" business than previously done by us, the sort of activity we have looked in at other clubs doing in this division rather than what we have signed or what us fans have as expected as City signings.

It could be spectacular, it could go spectacularly wrong, who knows but it certainly, for whatever reason seems a fresh approach this time around.
