Alex Pattison 3 year deal

Same place as before I'd imagine. Everyone is saying this lad is a central midfielder so I can't see him taking Walkers place unless we switch to a 4 3 3.

 

If it's a diamond we need another CM don't we? Unless we're shifting KM or RS into one of the right/left CM slots and last year RS was like a fish out of water in that role.

I'd imagine we retain the 4 2 3 1 and Pattison plays alongside one of KM or RS?

 

We're going to play a 5-2-3-1

Pattison and Smallwood are in the middle, Chapman and a new signing as the wingers, with Walker behind Cook.

 

Not for me Serg. I want Smallwood in the defensive mid role or sat on the bench. Otherwise it feels like we've not learnt the lessons from last season.

 

I think all of the systems/formations outlined above are likely. Sparks said it himself that we'll be more flexible and agile with how we shape up.

Whats impressive now is we have genuine competition for places in the middle of the park who could all start, rather than the same 2 or 3 and then the rest never getting a look in as they're not good enough.

would do well in this division

Unless some CBs move on, it seems likely we will play with three CBs, in my opinion, as we tried at the end of some games last season. Smallwood has to play as he's the captain and Pattison must be a starter. Not sure where McDonald fits in? Unless we play with a three in midfield? Chapman, Walker and Cook seem to be starters too. It'll be interesting to see what happens with players leaving over the next month

Usual montage... that said, I like how he's getting into the box, pushing up with the forwards, looking for the ball and an opportunity. We've definitely missed that aside from Walker and Banks really.

 

Just seen this news. Quick read on the website he sounds decent. 19 goals in 2 years is absolutely spot on, and he is in his prime at 25 years young. This is the first new signing I am genuinely chuffed about
