So this year was a purple patch then. Just because he was our leading goalscorer doesn’t mean he that’s good.

Weird isn't it, that a player who 'isn't that good' is going to have all these offers rolling in from clubs prepared to pay him big bucks.

 

Come on fordy,no cook this season and I honestly think we would have finished in the bottom half of the table.A good few of his goals were made by cook himself without the help of his team mates.If Cook stays another 3 years with us,I can see him very close to a hundred goals for the club and that isn't bad for someone who has scored 50 goals in two and half seasons.

I Wouldn't call that a purple patch.

 

No, they won’t pay big bucks as he’s on a free.

They will offer higher wages but that shouldn’t come to a shock to you. SUSTAINABILITY remember!

Look, if he stays great but I wouldn’t push the boat out for him. He will get a good contract elsewhere. If he wants to stay up north and is settled here then he will stay.

As much as he was scoring the goals and played a massive part last season, we failed and in the big 2 games he was nowhere.

Also, the team didn’t really score goals. It’s a team game.

Stays - great. Leaves - Not fussed.

 

Cook has scored a lot of goals all his career he is not a one hit wonder, he can look a pub player at times but that's just his style, a rough diamond that runs like a bit of a cabbage, I do think we should push the boat out for him but only as a very good L2 player, with very good L2 player wages. No player is worth blowing the budget out of the water for, especially one that probably won't have a resale value.

 

To answer your highlighted I'd suggest Cook has done his job, maybe you should be looking elsewhere.
Cooks not merely our leading scorer but League Two's leading scorer, which most would accept that if he is the leading scorer he's better that other strikers in the League Two which say to most he is that good.
I posted a few weeks back not merely Leagues Two's leading scorer but also he was leading for assists to his fellow team mates, which you have openly criticised him of offering nothing to the team.

 

Give him a 2 year contract and he could potentially catch Hanson & windass to move into 3rd place in our scoring chart. He's only 30 off them

 

Fordy, its a bit embarrassing that you can't admit you were wrong on this one.
No one can predict with total certainty how Cook will do in the rest of his career but he has always scored goals and what is undeniable is he has largely carried us this season - you don't have to have the final say on this matter to try and justify your warped viewpoint

 

Gonna stick my head up above the parapet and say that he stays. I'm not that sure that any club will stick up big wages for a player that is 33 soon, this gives the new club no resale value whatsoever. Plus he will want to stay relatively close to the north east.

Stockport as some have mentioned on here already have wooton so would just end up on the bench.

Yeah i've a feeling he'll get a 2 year deal on terms that are favourable to both parties.

Stop feeding the troll. He posts these comments and then sits back and waits for bites. Nobody could possibly be as stupid as he appears in his statements, surely.

 

A 2 year contract should have been awaiting Cook as Hughes intimated "you would think talking to your leading goal scorer would be happening behind the scenes", I believe Cook wil score high teens possibly more, if he can score 30 goals with little service I'd say high teens would be a decent return with other players making him chances.
I do believe Cook will still be here next season without us breaking the bank, if we are looking to replace our leading scorer it won't come cheap, we know what he can do he's been our leading goal score ever season during his time at the club, we gave Oliver who is a year younger a 3 year deal and at the moment its looking like a poor deal for the club.

 

Oh, he could be that stupid. This is the man who rated Josh Wright.

 

Nope, 47 in just over 100 games says he's a great striker at this level.

Everything else is just irrelevant noise.

 

I wish I had reached the same level of not very goodness that Cooky has. But then again, I think most professional strikers would like to reach that level too. Come on Fordy, just admit you’re completely wrong. We’ll still love you

 

There's nowt wrong with Josh Wright's career, but he was bizarrely crap when he came here.

I can't understand how he can possibly have played for Millwall, I have down as a bit of a poser who strolled around the pitch worrying about his hair.

 

Liked to point a lot but did very little himself. Think Jim O'Brien made more tackles in his first game than Wright did in his entire time with us......

 

Which sounds ideal for someone who had a hot spell of scoring for Gillingham (I think) before he came here.

Let Jim O'Brien do all the tackling, then let Wright score a few worldies.
