"It is understood agreement was reached with the player’s club in the final hour of the window. But that left little time for the deal to be hammered together."

"City will find out today whether the EFL will sign off on the potential move - or leave them regretting running out of time in the late scramble."

does the EFL have deal sheets or not? did we submit a deal sheet? also surely this would have been a buy not a loan as you don't typically hammer a deal on that right?

Well, we certainly have twisted during this window that's for sure but it's the sort of twisting you do trying to get out of a straitjacket by the looks. Let's hope it works out

I think Wright Nevers is a tad cheeky putting in as we clearly didn't want this to happen but i suppose if you are comparing are we stronger it makes sense. All those players who have gone apart from Wright have hardly impacted greatly on the first team and I'm a bit meh, so Im a bit flabbergasted, how we are suddenly weaker?

There's a precedent here. David Ball took days to be confirmed

I think we're weaker as we've lost Wright who was in our best XI, haven't really replaced him and also haven't seemingly brought in anyone else who immediately makes that first XI stronger.

Well we already have Cook and Oliver as the main two we are rotating between and then have brought in Derbyshire as back up to them. Where does Wyke fit in?
If the player we are trying to get over the line isn’t a creative central midfielder then there really isn’t much point.

on top of this I was reading the guidance on transfers

The League’s policy is that a Club will be deemed to have met the deadline if this office receives a completed copy of the appropriate registration form (G1/G2, H1) or loan form (H4) in advance of the deadline determined by The League in advance of each Transfer Window. If the Player is a Contract Player, then a copy of the relevant completed parts of the Standard Contract must be received by the League either before the specified time or immediately following. A short application process has been created within the online registration system to enable this to happen as we approach the closure of each transfer window. Similarly, if a Player is transferring his registration with an agreement between a Transferor Club and a Transferee Club, a copy of such an agreement must be received by the League either before the specified deadline or immediately following. It is expected that any Standard Contract or transfer agreement must have been agreed before the deadline and that the only reason for any delay resulting in these being received immediately following the deadline is due to prioritising the transmission of the appropriate registration form or loan form. A Club will still be deemed to have met the deadline if, even after the deadline, amendments are requested by the League to correct errors or omissions in the documents already submitted, but both the League and the FA will not complete the registration of the Player until the amendments are provided and found to be in order.

A Club will still be deemed to have met the deadline for submission of documents even if the Intermediary forms and Representation Agreements are received after the deadline. The FA has also confirmed that they would accept these documents after the registration deadline but both the League and the FA will not complete the registration of the Player until the documents are provided.

Simon said himself a deal was agreed between the clubs so if that was sent off before the deadline its not a problem.

to me seems like everything is a go, just awaiting EFL clearances - instead of asking for specific rules to be bent for this to go ahead.

Bola wasn’t awful at Stockport, stop being such a dramatist. You should have watched Foulds in his first game at Harrogate. It was on ifollow. He was like a little boy lost. Even his manager made a rapid “ let’s gloss over that one” comment during a post match interview. People talk utter b/s on here sometimes. I dare you to watch it . Remember Foulds was match fit too!

He’s the biggest loss Dave , the remainder are mostly improvements to those who have gone
“ on paper” . I won’t decide either way until they get a few games under their belts. In time I wonder if the plans is 3 at the back , as someone mentioned yesterday.?

In this post match interview Simon Weaver said Matty Fould's looked more comfortable in the left back slot and was very good, he made 4 changes at half time but kept Foulds on.

Interesting reading this as I'd been looking at it slightly differently. When seeing supporters (mainly Twitter) moaning about bringing in another centre back or another winger etc, I was thinking it was a good thing that we were building out the squad in time for the run-in. Especially the busy schedule we'll have in Feb & March, having the option to rotate players who are either on their way back from injury or settling into the squad will help us in my view. Hughes will also be happier knowing he has a few more reliable heads in the squad like Stubbs, Clayton & Derbyshire ready to bring in if someone has a knock or needs a rest.

It's a bit of a cliche but returning players will also help. Walker has played two games all season, Banks hasn't started a game since the beginning of December, Chapman has missed the last two and on top of that we've lost a key player in Wright. Its no surprise that we've struggled creatively with those players missing. Incidentally, Chapman has missed three league games all season and we have failed to score in each of them which shows his importance. We know what these players can offer us so getting them back playing is as important for Hughes as bedding in the new players.

Wyke was not the earlier in the day one. It was a midfielder. No idea on the late one.

I think I'm coming from the angle that wasn't clearly planned and clubs in league 2 will always face that risk, whereas the ones where we had a choice about them going or not like for like seems ok. Weirdly when Wright first came in he was definitely perceived as a meh

I don't think he can sign until the EFL say they will accept the signing.

We submitted a "deal sheet" late on and the EFL have to decide if the evidence presented shows that the signing was almost there.

If they accept that evidence then the player, current club and us can execute the various aspects of the deal.

If he signs a contract with us but then the EFL don't accept the deal sheet and the transfer then he'd not be able to play all season.

Wyke fits in because he's clearly a better player than both of them. He doesn't need to fit in as he replaces them

With Sutton going I suspect it will be a midfielder
