The only reason he left Cambridge after they got promoted and he dropped 2 divisions was for a massive wage increase.
We definitely aren’t paying anything like what he’s on at Wrexham.

Cook isn't that valuable money wise, but you'd rather have him in the camp than not. No club over pays for someone who's contract expires in just over 5 months. Lets say he's on 3k a week, which is probably a stretch anyway but 6 months of that is £75K. Minimum anyone would do is take that fee and offer that, probably stretch to £100K at the very most. Anything more is barking mad for a bloke who is 33 at the start of next season and will be free in June to talk to.

 

Would a good attacking midfield player score or help us to score the goals needed to get us promoted I'm not sure they would, we have have Walker, Banks, Nevers, Chapman, Pereira and Osadebe when fit all attacking midfield players, up top we'd be left with Oliver, Eisa, and two unknowns in Derbyshire and Costelloe the lad from Town, I do hope this rumour is exactly that.

 

Have you ever read anything so daft "fallen down the pecking order" this is one of the few times I've agreed with my old jousting buddy @Fordy117 what utter crap Simon, I would have waited until 2 O'clock on Saturday before making that comment, surely Hughes can't start Oliver.

Phil Parkinson has to get Wrexham promoted this season or he's gone, many Wrexham fans wanted him out last season, a little like us when were heard about one of our new owners being worth £100m or more they believe because they have Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney as their new owners/backer they would piss the league.
If Parky could get Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney to part with the £75,000 or whatever was agreed if it could happen it would almost guarantee Wrexham a promotion IMO.
As you say Cooks contract finishes in June and he was part of a promotion I don't see why the club would not offer him an extension of a further 12 months.

they will go up this time I’m sure of it ......... they are in far better posistion than last season and I’m sure the owners will do everything in and sign anyone to get the deal done ......... let’s not forget that FFP will affect them next season maybe there recruiting now is in place for next season and league two football

I have to be honest when they first bought the club I though another couple of big time Charlies buying the club without realising what's involved, but there is no doubt that Reynolds is a pretty shrewd cookie, they have made some serious appointments at the club both on and off the field, Shaun Harvey being no mug I believe he's employed on a consultancy basis,

 

if you saw the documentary honestly they would have put a lot of league chairman to shame .............it’s clever what they are doing I know they’ve put a lot of money in but how much have they raised from the documentary ( which is brilliant ) and the sponsorship deals especially tiktok............... they where under enormous pressure to sack Parky but they fully backed him and how many owners would do that ............. they deserve the success that comes there way but got a feeling that at this rate they will reach league one before us ............least they have someone at the helm who knows how to get out of this league ........... I bet he ain’t playing one man up top is he ????? No a big bastard and an out goalscorer next to him and what’s betting that system stays in place once they do go up ............... I seriously cannot fathom the obsession with one man up top ............. I get it to a point at elite levels but at this level ffs

 

I hope the rumours are wrong.
If Cook moves anywhere this window, to me It makes MH look very stubborn.
Cook peed on Sparkie's chips by improving his fitness, forcing his way into the team and scoring 16 in under half a season. He then goes a couple without scoring, misses chances at Carlisle and is benched in time for the transfer window.
If Cook is going to be a bit part player it makes sense for him to go, but it doesn't make sense for him to be a bit part player.
This team needs goals, and so far no one else has stepped up.
