Stopped scoring? We were creating absolutely nothing for him, he had one poor game at Carlisle where he uncharacteristically didn't take on of the three chances he had and was subsequently dropped.

Agreed you won’t find any disputes from me regarding the home form, the Rochdale game was a shambles. Each game is a new opportunity however, hopefully today is something to build on.

 

So you have two options then as the manager you play Cook through his lean spell (I believe it was something like1 goal in 3 games) some lean spell, or drop him and bring someone in who you believe can continue scoring the goals required to get us out of this league, Hughes chose the latter and it looked a good call against Harrogate and Salford but Tuesday night he made little impression on the Rochdale defenders and again today offered little so using your argument Cook should be starting against Carlisle as Oliver hasn't scored in the last two games and offers little without goals.
I hope you don't believe there's more to the game than goals like like a certain poster on here .

Not really because I believe over a short time at least Oliver has benefited the team more. By the way when I saw Cook on Tuesday he looked like he had put a few pounds back on over Christmas.

 

The reply was not aimed at you, I've replied above with regards what choices a manager has, I don't think Pep will be dropping Haaland because he didn't score in the last 4 games, although he played what could be classed as a weakened team against Southampton in the ELF Cup.

 

Yes I also saw Cook on Tuesday night and I would think if he has put weight on the conditioning coach would have pointed it out and doubt Hughes would have played him, its not like it was 30/40 years ago where players couldn't wait for half time to have a fag, modern footballers have to meet certain criteria set out by the club one of which I would think is keeping their weight within certain tolerances.

So 2 average displays in 4 games has benefited the team so much you persist with him rather than a player who contributed far more in the games he's played, lets not forget who started with the shirt and lost his place in the team because the guy who was brought on at Barrow got us back into the game when he equalised and then went on a phenomenal run of goal scoring yet the first time he hit a lean spell he's dropped, I don't have a problem with Oliver having the shirt but I believe as a few have said Hughes brought Oliver in as his number one striker and as circumstances have turned out IMO he's no longer our number one.
If for what ever reason (apart from injury) if Cook does not start next Saturday I will start questioning our manager.

 

No we didn't. We lost 4.1 at Exeter on Easter Saturday and were seven points off the playoffs. We secured 7th spot in the penultimate match and drew the last one. At no point in 2013 were we ever in touch with automatic promotion

 

Worth remembering that most scoring opportuniies need an assist. Our leading scorer has grabbed a couple following a defensive run through and strike, but more often has to rely on others to feed him a pass. I don't class him as a predetor type so he has to be fed the ball to get his shot away....so play to his strengths and he will score.
