He automatically sticks players with 12 months left on their contracts on the transfer list, that doesn't mean they always sell them. They only go if the offer is to Peterboroughs liking. I think it's a good policy, you only sell if its beneficial to you. A lot of their players end up with 12 month left on their contract. Look at Marriott. I don't see him signing another contract in his time at the club.

 

Whilst you are probably right about Robinson being a better wing-back than winger, I just don’t see us playing with wing-backs. Why give Gibson a new deal and let him think he’s got a chance if we aren’t playing wingers? And why would we sign Seedorf?

Not sure what relevance Marriott has to this. He was only signed last summer (from Luton) on a 4yr deal. He doesn’t have to leave them until Summer 2021.

Negotiating the best deal possible is going to determine the quality of our replacement. Whichever way you choose to look at it, we would be able to do more with £1M than 400k for example

 

Depends who you target. You won't get a £1M player on our wage structure.

If Edin wants to sign players, improve them and sell them on for a profit, how is that going to work if we keep getting into this situation? Fact is, we could lose Wyke for nothing in 12mths and then we won’t have earned any profit, let alone enough to pay for a replacement of equal or better quality

 

Most of the squad. Why do you think they have sold so many players this summer, its not hard to work out. Again, when they get to the point where they have 12 months left on their contract they are automatically place on the transfer list. Now the relevance of Marriott in my explanation. He will more than likely move either this summer or the next, this one if the valuation is met. But him signing a new contract now, like you were advising with Wyke, is of no benefit whatsoever to the player. It reduces his bargaining power, thats why players run their contracts down when they know other clubs are interested. There is no incentive for Marriott to sign a new contract while he is at the club, the same goes for Wyke.

 

Eion Doyle would do for me. Our forward line needs a bit of experience.

 

What is with the animosity? I merely made a comment that the Wyke situation shows why the plan isn’t fool-proof. We have our main asset being courted and there was a real risk we would turn down less than £0.5m now and get nothing for him next summer.

This is not the sustainable plan that Edin has fed us.
