If you bothered to read the post I said half the names were out of our league. Just commenting on the list as there are some cracking names out of contract - Marquis especially.

typical of this forum though - put your own list of realistic targets up or don’t bother to make petty comments.

 

What's the point in mentioning a bloke that's just hit 25 in the division above for a team going for promotion though? At least have an element of realism in the players you mention otherwise we might aswell comment that Ronaldo might be leaving Man Utd.

Ive no idea what our budget is so how would I know who is realistic? as i said, Wrexham will blow us out the water even if we think we are onto a good one. But there’s no harm is looking through Sergio’s lengthy list and sorting some of the good ones from the crap.

we will be left with journeymen and loans as our ethos is ‘sustainability’.

Sharp will be used to being on the thick end of £20,000 a week. Cutting that to £3k a week at max ain't gonna cut the mustard

 

Like picking needles out of a haystack that ? MH is going to be burning the midnight oil. But just at a glance we need a leader; talisman what about a two year deal for Billy Sharp ? Lets see if the MH factor can have effect ?

 

And i'd get super Jonny Williams from Swindon. Would piss in this team with his 2 boot laces tied together

 

As I put in other post, wasn’t saying all those players should be on our radar. was merely mentioning there’s some good players on frees.

But make no mistake about it. The clubs with ambition and money in our league, i.e. Wrexham if they come up, will consider players like Marquis and Smith if they are on frees. Its a short career and players go for the cash when its dangled. Mullin prime example. Tozer and Palmer two others - all could be in League One this season.

Still waiting for your list of who is realistic on that freebies list, though…….

Tell you what, if Micheal Smith ends up in league 2 next year I'll take back the sarcasm and apologise.

Can't see it though, even the struggling championship sides would blow Wrexham out of the water for a 25 goal striker who's on a free.

 

have you see Smith’s career stats? He’s not the world beater you are making out. He’s a 6 ft odd beanpole. This season he’s done very well at Rotherham but he’s never been prolific before this year.

He’s struggled in the Championship for Rotherham. He’s a bit like Tom Pope in that respect, having had one explosive season. He might get some interest from top end League One yeah but he’s also 30 and if Wrexham come in offering silly money he might be tempted.

How many Championship sides want a massive beanpole striker? They are a dying breed. He’s a proper Chesney Hawkes, not the superstar you are making out.

linking him with moneybags clubs in Leagues One/two is perfectly realistic, so don’t see why you’ve brought that laziest reference ever into the convo, RE Ronaldo.

if he plays in Champ next year its because he’s signed an extension at Rotherham. Seems most likely situation as he’s settled and playing well for Warne.
