The poor balance of the current squad, is for me the key issue.

Many of the individual players, playing with different team members, could probably play well at League Two levels.

It is too many players with similar skill sets, physical ability, pace/stamina, injury prone which means that the ingredients just don’t work well.

We have seen bland (tasteless) football for too long.

You could argue that we have 3 or 4 too many players in the squad, and that quality rather then quantity is much needed.

Agree with all of your astute points. An amusing sidelight, don't know whether you've read any of Adams comments after Morecambe's two recent heavy defeats - basically boiled down, if we hadn't conceded the goals and scored a few of our chances they would both have been very different results. His delusional behavior continues.

So true. We have many square pegs in round holes, an over-abundance of midfield players who all offer pretty much the same, and a lack of players who can join/link up and play together/off one another. And of course our problems upfront continue to be glaringly evident. Bless his heart and his endeavour, Andy Cook continues to work like a dog. But there's no-one good for him to regularly play with or off. I feel for the bloke.

6 points from his 5 games doesn't point to being the mix, but performances are undoubtedly better.

A look at the league table and the number of managers we've had since the 6th form CEO took over does reveal some clues. I also know he likes his wet executive luncheons.

I know what he hasn't done. He hasn't arrested the decline, and he's fired off quite a few rounds while he looks for the elusive silver bullet.

Of course when you don't build on successive coaches or show any long term planning regards the performance of the team, a silver bullet is your only chance.

    Hail Mary.

This obsession with Rupp being at fault for everything has to stop. He's brought in a quality manager, maybe by luck rather than judgement, but at least he's done it. Let's give Hughes the chance to turn it around and then see if Rupp still needs castigating.

He will have been fully appraised before taking the job, if he wasn't going to be backed he would have withdrawn his application because he has no need to work. Give Hughes time to mould his own squad before carrying on the Rupp Out nonsense. What's done is done. Let's move forward.

In simple terms it's all about making the right choices now. With Hughes I feel assured we have a catalyst for the challenge ahead. Not concerned about the so called failings of Sparks and co previously..it's about now and how the decisions we take influence change on the pitch through complete support for MH and his team.We have to back his judgement and expertise.

He owns the club, and under his ownership we have seen year on year regression. Who else's fault would it be?

Right, let's stop dwelling on the misery of the last few years. We now have a manager in charge who has played and managed at the very top level, alongside a coach any other League 2 club would die for. The reality is Rupp still owns the club. He's fallen lucky, as has Sparks, with Hughes delivering himself to us from left field. But the fact is we have a manager and coach who'll clear out the crap, bring proper fresh talent in and, as MH has already shown with a less than ideal squad of players, will bring us a look, a shape and a side with a distinctive style.

Your message has much substance as did the one posted by @Ulysses S Grant@Ulysses S Grant and in Hughes we have potential, much like we did have with gaffers whom too had ability, more akin to this level.

That potential, like those before, can only be realised with support by the club AND its supporters.

Hughes may clear out the crap but what if we replace with 'new' crap, which seems a trait under the Rupp regime, especially since we bottomed out in the fourth division.

I've never wanted any gaffer to fail. Nor do I wish for Hughes to fail.

But the common denominator in recent times as why we have failed is Rupp. This thread and many more bore testimony.

I genuinely HOPE that Rupp and this club stick my scribbles right where the sun doesn't shine. Maybe my mindset is aversly 'negative' but I'm finding it difficult to believe. Based purely on the fact of his tenure.
