    Just had a word with my ITK source and the clubs have both agreed to call the friendly 'The Cow's Arse Superior Forum Appreciation Match' .

    I think we can all agree that is a worthy name and credit to both club's for paying for the privilege.

    Give over Fordy, with the drive Edinout bullshit. Club supporters have been trying to get owners “out” for years with little or NO success.

    Is that another protest group of say 10-20 being started up. Let me know when the first march on Manningham Lane is please. I’ll do a 300mile round trip to laugh my tits off at you.

    Why don’t you suggest something worthwhile...Say set up a contributor fund to buy the club off our owners. You know it makes sense. Let’s see if you can raise what the owners paid for the club?

    It seems me that the crux of the issue here is the following. Was the attempt to sponsor the Guiseley v City match under the name 'James Mason Appreciation Society'
    a) a genuine attempt to honour James's stirling five year service to the club, with no other agenda? Or
    b) a deliberately provocative attempt to wind up/cause embarrassment/have a laugh at Edin's expense, by bigging up someone who has recently left the club under rumours of disagreements with Edin?
    If you believe a) then you are likely to believe that Edin intervened to stop it and that he was behaving like a control freak in doing so.

    If you believe b) then you are more likely to believe that Guiseley, not Edin, pulled the plug or, if Edin did intervene, that he was justified in doing so.

    Either way, I don't see much sign of anyone changing their position on this. It's become yet another running sore of strong disagreements between those who think Edin is destroying the club and those who think his plans should be given a chance to work.
    The 'Edin out' faction believe that their legitimate fears for the club are being suppressed. The pragmatic ''wait & see' camp are sick of being called happy clappers for not putting a negative spin on everything that Edin does.
    Only time will tell who is most correct here.

    The question asked of the press officer in the first email was this ....

    Hi, I wonder if Guisley A.F.C through your good self could or would comment on a rumour that's causing some division amongst our supporters.

    The gist is that there are claims that a group calling itself 'The James Mason Appreciation Society' wished to sponsor the match with that title as the sponsor's title. It has been said that Guisley were fine with this but that Bradford City objected and rejected the sponsorship.


    If you are able to comment it would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance. XXXX

    Hi XXXX,

    A group who have sponsored Guiseley previously with this fixture asked to sponsor again.

    Initially they wanted one name as sponsors, then Naughty Boys Table and then our Commercial Manager was asked to change it to the James Mason Appreciation Society.

    He rang me and said why they want that I don’t know, he is an old fashioned film star!

    I said maybe the one you know is but I know James Mason and he has recently left Bradford City and I think this is someone being mischievous here, I don’t think it is a good idea.

    I have known James since he was a teenager and he was my work experience boy at one time on the local newspaper.

    We decided we didn’t want someone’s idea of a joke to spoil our relationship with City so it will not be going down as The James Mason Appreciation Society.

    James has been made aware of this.

    It was our decision to reject this, not City’s.

    How do the supporters know wo was sponsoring a Guiseley game anyway, we have not made it public.

    You can see from the reply from Guiseley FC that it was their decision and not City's to reject the request to change the sponsor's name to the James Mason Appreciation Society and in doing so completely contradicting the OP

    You're wrong.
    There's a piece missing out of their story, the bit where they didn't want a joke spoiling the relationship is true.
    Therefore they asked City if they had any objection to this sponsorship!
    To which City had an issue with it.
    I know that.

    Now let me go on to say this, if Guiseley could have had £xxxx sponsorship for a friendly they surely would.
    But, the rewards for a friendly infront of a 1500 crowd is far more.
    The response above is Guiseley taking the onus of rejecting the offer of sponsorship, it keeps things 'harmonious' between the clubs

    I'm surprised that any Club Ambassador who has such a concern about the current ownership and/or direction of the club would still want to be in that role. It smells of vanity to me in paying for the privilege of being an ambassador and then dissing the club from outside rather than tackling the issues head-on from the inside.
