It'll be done by the same people, presumably a similar budget. No reason to think our summer recruitment will be any better than last summer, or this January.

Agreed. It needs to be considerably better than the last 3-4 season's.

Having that amount of players out of contract might allow Adams to pay a bit more for some marquee signings, if he can pick up some bargains/develop some of the young players in other areas.

Don't worry, we'll be getting organised early in preparation for the next transfer window, splashing the cash and won't be waiting until the last minute to do our business! ;)

Oh yes, and we'll still be in the basement division.

If you bothered paying attention to posts, rather than just looking at wiki and assuming that because a player has scored a few more goals than another he is better, and reading the content of the post rather than pulling out the bit you disagree with, you might actually understand other peoples post of view.

You would also see there isn't a single part of my body that would get anywhere near Rupp/ Adams or Sparks and I've been critical of all three for a lot of the last three months in particular.

Smith is marginally better than Elliott but not enough to make him a good signing if we had brought him in. You cant see the wood for the trees can you ?

We have 14 players out of contract in June and Adams is clearly bringing in loans (which other than the Invisible man) all seem to be better than what we have here, especially a target man to replace the useless Lavery & Robinson, so that he can fully clear the decks and start again next year.

Bring in permanent signings now and they are on the books until June 23 at least.

It makes total sense to bring in loans in January to allow a clear start in June, whatever league we are in.

This club hasn't got a prayer of progressing as long as every time we sign a player he is written off before he's even kicked a ball. Player contracts run to June so EVERYONE signed in January, whether permanent or on loan, is a player that another club feels they can do without. Pretty much in the same way Millwall felt they could do without Smith.

Players don't have to come from higher leagues to be a good fit or better than you already have and people who disagree with your (mainly) negative and (definitely) limited views are not always up the arse of Rupp/ Sparks or Adams.

problem we have here though is, you are essentially saying we need to start again from scratch in June. How many times have we done that in the last 4 years? it ends up being rushed, to much a budget issue, and then come january we end up having to chop and change, lose the deadwood, bring in loans and repeat the whole process again the following June.

This is the problem we have had, when there is no recruitment plan at all. Its all players signed on a whim with no real thought of where they fit in the side. We started the season with 5 wingers, we now have an abundance of number 10s, we needed a striker before angol got injured, yet here we are with Elliot been dressed up as a new signing and someone we have long admired. We still need A N Other up front because Robinson and Lavery are worse than useless.

5 we now have five loans , realistically how many will be here next year. Bass, Daly and Perera certainly wont. You mention 14 OOC in the summer. if we keep 7 of those (god knows who) thats 10 to 12 to replace.

We should be bringing in players with a plan for the next window, each window should be a tweak here and there not a full rebuild every year because we got the last one spectacularly wrong

I'm not passing judgement until @Fordy117@Fordy117 lets me know how good a signing this is.

In theory, I agree. But what do you do when the crop you've got keep massively underachieving?
You've got to have a clearout because they aren't good enough.

Parky recruited a lot of league 1 players to get promoted from league 2. Those players could then cope with league 1 when we got promoted and stayed with the club for a number of years. Then it was just tweaks in each window with a core of Darby, Meredith, McCardle, Reid etc

That costs a lot of money though. More than Rupp is willing to put in.

'Sustainable' doesn't pay league 1 wages, when you're in league 2.

Yep instead of signing quality we will go for quantity. A few ok players backed up by dross after dross with the youth overlooked as suitable back up.

Shame it has not been mentioned yet but the lad has been on loan spells at Macclesfield and Bury

I'm sure there is a hashtag to make here!

I think Walker is quality as is Bass and Daly has the potential to be with 8 goals from midfield so far. I think we have improved the quality and quantity this window even if it’s short term. However I sincerely hope we get better value from our permanent signings in the summer

If he can dance , Fordy will think he is absolute shite.
Some of the crap i have read on here today, has cheered up a pretty shit work day.
Give the guy a chance, how any one can write him off before kicking a ball is completely beyond me.
He might be a good fit in the team, he might not. But give the lad a few games before condeming him.

3-5-2 would be ideal on paper wouldn’t it. Could drop Threlkeld then and maybe even play Foulds or Staunton in a three with Paudie and Canavan or Songoo. Could also cram in loads of the midfielders we now seem to have.

if we ever did try 3-5-2 I’d like to see Bass; Foulds, Songoo, Paudie; Vernam (or Ridehalgh if need more defensive set up), Watt, Walker, Cooke, Sutton; Elliott, Cook

Sutton could be ideal for a RWB although if we’re too soft in the middle could drop cooke or watt and bring him into the centre, or start canavan and push songoo into CM

Last English club Bobby Campbell played for before joining us, he mustered a meagre three goals in twenty appearances ... just saying

Elliot may turn out like many of the non-scoring centre-forrads we've had over the years. However as far as I'm concerned, I'm all for giving the lad a chance, he starts here with a clean slate. And its up to him whether he endears himself into our folklore, or becomes another quickly forgotten failure.

Another reason for Rupp to sell up and go.

His reasoning for buying us in the first place was the awesome fans. The atmosphere and all the culture we had. Any poison from the fans now is justified and the fault lies solely with the man who owns the club.

The players decisions will always boil down to money. We dont offer enough and thats the simple fact, Occams Razor. I dont think Rupp should be expected to cough up season after season if he doesnt want. But its football and if he doesnt want to invest he should bugger off.

Ball was a loan from Rotherham but Caddis was just a one year deal as he was an FA
