Takeover Rumours

The WAGMI press release very clearly points to Rupp as being the party that changed their mind. If a deal in principle was agreed, that would have included a purchase price. Big businessmen have big egos - it could simply have been the case that Rupp spat his dummy out at WAGMI having started to talk publicly about the deal.

 

Makes you wonder on what other issues/matter he has missed led or lies to fans.
There will be many now who will not trust him.

 

So have these beardy hoxton chic types formally pulled out ? Is this deal dead ? Is @Park bantam sat in his darkened room chanting 'all will be well, all manner of things will be well, in stephan we trust, ich bein ein berliner, I am the voice of the over 70s city fans, I have spoken'

 

And many more who never did.

 

If WAGMI United have been in discussions to purchase the club since early November, culminating in an agreement in principle, how come they didn't know that we didn't own the ground or training facilities?
This doesn't indicate a very thorough operation on their part.

 

Maybe he has, but I can't see what the issue would have been if he was about to receive the money he values the club at? I'm trying to rationalise a downside to them spilling the beans.

 

Rupp's posiition is very puzzling. We've all assumed in recent years that he was a reluctant owner who was just waiting for a decent offer to bail out. Then he gets an interested party and knocks them back, saying he is committed to the club. This is the club of which he has reduced the transfer budget and emphasised that it must break even above all else. So he's not prepared to invest to increase the value of the club and he's also not prepared to sell and get rid. Something doesn't add up here.

 

Exactly.

 

I suspect he's still looking for a magnanimous exit - I stuck around, supported the club, made sure it stayed afloat etc etc and wanted to leave with his head high.

The sudden activity and publicity may have spooked him and he was wary of the negative feeling on some aspects of the takeover party. I suspect he is trying to exit on good terms and didn't want the negativity like Rahic got.

We'll see in January if he puts his hand in his pocket.

Remember, our CEO had gone ON RECORD to state that promotion is the aim. Frankly Adams will have worked miracles if we get promoted from our current position.

 

I'm not saying these guys were right for us, or that I wanted a bunch of crypto nerds owning us, but it was worth investigating the possibility.

What this whole thing clearly indicates is we are being lied to by our owner and our ceo. This is apparently the second offer he has declined.

It's time for him to go, he has one interest in us and that is making a profit on his "investment" and has no interest in taking us forward.

Lies have been told to us, lies have been told to players about our ambition and lies have been told to the press about this bid.

Rupp must go.

 

Maybe give Rupp a bit of credit here.

Perhaps he cares enough about us to have doubts that this proposed takeover was in the best interests of the club and its fans.

Although I would welcome new owners, I have felt very uneasy about this particular group of crypto investors.

 

Seems they were not in discussions with anyone who actually had the authority to sanction any deal.

Certain people at the club have gone very quiet over the last few weeks...

 

Perhaps the rumours about another consortium involving a Wibsey pub owner are true and they are his preferred bidders ? Who knows.

If that were the case, selling back to a previous owner would let him walk away without repercussions, whatever happened.

If that were the case, at least we can thank Rupp for having got rid of Junior and his half arsed attempts to run a football club once and for all. Hopefully!!

That's my thinking too. But it's hard to square with his apparent reluctance to do what's needed to take us forward.

Sounds plausible. These hard core twitter types don't know where the line is most of the time.

Just thank God twitter is his chosen tool of self publicity not Facebook, with the latter we would have photos of his tea daily, views of every hill he climbed and pictures of every pint of lager he purchased in a micropub

 

I think there is a telling sentence in Rupp's statement this afternoon. The bit about his duty to safeguard the club's long term future did it for me. He clearly doesn't trust this American consortium to do that

 

What's to say they didn't? This idea that they didn't know stems from the fact that on the Twitter Space they didn't want to confirm who the club was by name, and the question directed to them asked if they were going to buy the ground/training facilities - a yes or no would indicate we are the club, and so they deflected the question to the answerer

People are forgetting they refrained from mentioning the club by name and it was in fact other sources that said it was Bradford City
